i bought a parker hunter mag the other day and the cable guard is above the grip. it kinda throws me off w/ it being that high. anyway i tried to take it off last nite but it wouldnt budge. i put the vice grips on it and it wouldnt turn what can i do b4 taking it to the pro shop?
it doesnt have a sway in the bar so the cables are directly in your line of sight. it kinda messes w/ me. I'd like to take it off and put another bar on w/ a sway so the cables arent in my line of sight thru the peep.
Dumb question but did you take the cables off first? The tension from the cables is pretty extreme and will stop you from removing the guard. I'm not familiar with that particular model but most are held into place with small allen head set screws, even the ones that look like they have a nut-like brass base. Loosening the set screws should allow you to turn the rod to give it more of an offset, or to remove it entirely. If it's a straight rod then another option would be to change to a different slider that holds the cables tighter to the rod or moving them to the outside of the rod. You want to keep that offset as low as possible though to reduce cam lean. Check your tuning after you move them off to the side for this reason.
yeah,i took the cables out of the little piece that holds them.then i took out the tap that holds it and tried everything to get it to turn it wouldnt budge.i was going to put on a different bar one w/ a sway b/c like you said its a straight rod.i'll try your approach kodiak thanks 4 the help!
