I am new to this forum and bow hunting but I recently got a Parker Hunter Mag compound bow and was wondering if anyone has had or heard anything on this bow? I also got a release awhile back and dont know the name of it but was wondering if a release has alot to do with how well you shoot? Thanks for any advise in advance.
A friend of mine shoots a 2005 model and enjoys it. I have worked on it, solid hunting setup for the money. I believe that cabelas or bass pro sold a ton of them back then in packages. The release has an affect on your shooting, but I wouldn't say alot as long as you are comfortable with it an use it properly.
Im shooting a parker spitfire, and i really like it. I find it easier to use a release but its all personal prefrence.
a release aid gives you a FAR more consistant release than fingers. Hence the average shooter is usually Alot more accurate using one than without
I shot Parker Bows for several years and IMO they produce really good bows. I have shot the Feather-Grade and UltraLite-31. I was impressed with both models. As far as the Hunter Mag, I'm sure their good quallity also. Good luck and shoot straight!
I shoot a Parker Hunter mag. Its the 2nd bow that I've owned and I love it. It shoots good and fast and is reliable.
I've used the hunter mag for 8 years now and it has done very well for me. I don't plan on buying another bow for at least a couple of years, but I have updated the site and will get a new rest after this season.
So far I really like the bow but I need ALOT more practice. The release that I have has a slight hesitation before the actual release of the string. When I have the bow drawn and go to release by the time the string actually release's I have moved position and I end up grounding the arrow or loosing it. Any suggestions?
what do you mean by follow through, no peeking? It may be a dumb question but I am new to bow hunting. Thanks
Here is the gig man when you draw your bow back, concentrate on the target. Kill it with your eyes you shouldnt be slapping the trigger or squeezing like a gun, but pulling your hand into it with the compression of your shoulders, almost like a suprise release, once the shot is gone, keep the bow where it is, you are more than likely dropping your bow arm watch this vid, and it will help get yah started http://library.thinkquest.org/27344/propertech.htm this is all right on, except you are not relaxing your drawhand with a mechanical release.
good bow I shoot a hunter mag and its a great bow. It is reliable and stands up to some hard hunting. You will find that since it is a little older that it is not tapped in the center for a string tamer but you can use the lower limb bolt hole with some tweaking to get it right. I've had mine for over a year and have shot at least 10,000 shots and had no problems just one string change which was done just due to hunting season coming. This bow won't let you down its a deer killing machine. Happy hunting:D
