My new Bow (hoyt Carbon Spyder 30) has taken a long time for me to sight in. I have been shooting it for some time with a group of other archers and I always end up buying the coffee after we shoot!!:(

Some guys were saying it was because of the short ATA and my 30 inch draw... others said that is not the problem... thoughts?? I am very inconsistent in my shots with this bow. Arrows are spines correctly, simply shooting field tips.

After much frustration, I spoke to the shop where I purchased it. They asked if I had paper tuned and I replied "no". They said do that so today I tried to paper tune. Wow... it was shooting way off... point goes in, fletch drifts 2 or more inches up to the left.

Tried to move the rest to compensate and I have run out of room... the rest is now hitting the riser and now my sight is way out...

How important is paper tuning? I was able to re-sight the bow but I imagine a shot through paper would show it is way out again....

    Thanks for any suggestions, Tom

I agree with the above and will add to set centershot via french tune and then yoke tune.

However, that probably won't be the end all to shooting better. Even an out of tune bow should group but maybe not be forgiving.

The main question I have is how is the bow holding on target? If it doesn't hold well then no amount of tuning will fix it.

Is the pin bouncing? If so it could mean the peep isn't in the proper position for you or the draw length is long.

If the pin is real jumpy, then it could mean the draw length is too short.
