Church staff rake in millions if dollars across the country .... probably billions ..... your argument that it is already taxed money doesn't wash since so is every dollar we spend.... the church taking from the community is is direct contradiction to the Bible .... for a church to be non profit, they have to agree to things that are in direct contradiction to the Bible .... and we wonder why most churches are non "prophet" ;)

Church staff pay taxes on every cent just like everyone else plus they pay the higher social security tax rate. They aren't raking in anything. Where are you getting your info? Churches are non profit because they are entrusted to minister to the community. Are churches perfect, of course not, but to say they are in direct contradiction to the Bible because they accept money given to them just isn't what scripture teaches at all. I think you need to study a little more on this one bro.

Anyway, I'll not respond to this thread further for fear of us disagreeing publicly.

All churches are non profit or all churches claim to be non profit??? If you've been to several you will know the difference. Went to one in Mansfield, Texas that had more big screen tv's than the Cowboys Stadium. Preacher had his own driver who dropped him off up in front of the church in a brand new Lincoln. The church was like a club on the inside. First words were, " Praise God! It's time for the offering....." That's no joke. Non-profit. Right.....

We're still trying to pay for something with tax dollars that is not the responsibility of government. Churches will still need money to operate so there we are again. Like a dog chasing his tail.

I wonder how many of those that "need" insurance are driving cars newer than 5 years and have big screen tv's.

I work with a couple guys that make $20 an hour but can't afford insurance. Never mind the fact they only work 2 or 3 days a week but they "need" our help for insurance.

The one got in a fight and broke his hand and had to have surgery. The church run hospital cut his bill to $200.

Cut out the fraud and free loaders and the majority that want insurance will be able to afford it. In a lot if cases it is a matter of choice to get insurance or a smart phone and newer car.

That's kind of a weird statement. What's the difference? People disagree here all the time.

Perhaps the government should also keep their noses out of things like energy, transportation, agriculture, and student aid?

Energy involves natural resources as does agriculture(as well as foreign trade) you pay for public transportation. And student aid is to ensure a productive member of society instead of someone that is going to bleed the system dry. That is investing in the future of the country.

Healthcare, while on the surface sounds great ,will create many more issues than it solves. Just look at the welfare system. Sounds good until people start using it as a way of life instead of a temporary situation to help through hard times.
