The same thing is happening in MN which caused me to despise Brett in the first place, the media love affair with him and the constant attention. Hey, there is 51 others players here in MN that are making this thing work, not just Brett, yet every interview you see about the vikes or with a vikes player focuses on Brett Favre. Yesterday Bernard Berrian was on PTI and what were all of his question about, yep Brett favre, sickening! Brett Favre this, Brett Favre that, blah blah blah... Its already getting old and we're only 4 games into the season. Dont get me wrong, I want the vikes to succeed and will pull for Brett if he is the QB, but the guy just irritates me.
Wow a voice of reason and a vikes fan to boot! Exactly my point and exactly what is irritating about the Favre thing. It's just that some people see it for what it is (big picture) and others have tunnel vision and see it for what the media feeds them. It becomes comical that people act like Favre is the reason they are 4-0. How about the last second play to beat the feared 49ers? How many times did you hear Favres name? How many times did you hear the receivers name? Who made the better play Favre or the dude that caught the pass? The world without blinders on knows the answer.
Blame the media. It's always the QB that makes it or breaks it. If he would have lost the game it would have been his fault and that is they it's always been. Yes I'm sick of hearing it also. The media here really backed off of it. The only thing I heard on the news was the Packers lost next story.
NYB, ahhhhh, I won't even say it. You make it sound like it's so easy a cave man could do it. The reason he has the fan base he does is because of people like you. Blah, blah, blah... switch Rodgers with Farve, blah, blah, blah, who would have won then? Who knows the answer to your silly question. Maybe Farve would still have won the game playing for the Packers because he would have made quicker decisions and not been sacked so many damn times. Farve throws for 270 yards and 3 TD's and you say its a good game? Thats it? I also think you quoted somewhere that the Viks still would've won with Jackson as QB. lol! Get outta here with that crap. The Pack shut down the run and forced the Viks to win through the air and the man did just that. Now go sit back in your recliner and get ready for your Yankees game.
SevenMag, your crazy... Randy Moss? THE best receiver of his time...the ONLY one who comes remotely close is Sterling Sharpe....
I wouldn't go that far.... he is good, but he played with a guy who was as good... if not better... in Chris Carter. Having Carter on the opposite side of the field from Moss really helped him put up the numbers he did in the early part of his career. Also, you gotta throw T.O. in there.
Whoa whoa whoa... You guys are both telling me there has been a better receiver in the NFL then Randy Moss since 1998? Your NUTS! Name ONE.. Theres only a few possible contenders...OchoCinco...Marvin Harrison, TO, Bruce/Holt...but none were better then Randy Moss.
my take on Randy Moss... he COULD be one of the all-time greats if he had a work ethic worth a damn... he simply doesn't care about doing his job... he can catch, sure, he is only a marginal route runner, downfield blocking?? forget about it, defending after an interception, no effin way... his talent level isn't what I question, its his work ethic that keeps him from being one of the greats... all of the contenders you mention have better work ethic than moss... I'd take TO over him in a heartbeat, keyshawn johnson as well even though I personally can't stand either one of them, they at least work their asses off and can do something more than catch... Randy Moss will go down as one of the biggest wastes of talent the nfl has ever seen
Opinions of some experts regarding where Moss sits: Top 10 WRs of All Time Raymond Berry, Boyd Dowler, Mike Holmgren, Ken Houston, Warren Moon, Keyshawn Johnson and Ted Thompson helped ESPN.com evaluate the best wide receivers in NFL history. ESPN.com weighed their contributions, balancing rankings with anecdotal evidence, to create the following list. (Click here for ZOOM Gallery.) 1. JERRY RICE Career: Played for 49ers, Raiders and Seahawks from 1985-2004. Holds NFL records for receptions (1,549), receiving yards (22,895), TD receptions (197), TDs (207). Quick quote: "Jerry had a tremendous combination of speed, size, toughness, smarts." -- Holmgren, Rice's offensive coordinator in San Francisco 2. RANDY MOSS Career: Set NFL record with 23 TD catches last season with Patriots. Quick quote: "Randy Moss catches the ball so well almost without looking at it sometimes. He is scary physically." -- Boyd Dowler, retired scout and former NFL receiver. 3. DON HUTSON Career: Played for Packers from 1935-45. Held 18 NFL records when he retired. Elected to Hall of Fame in 1963. Quick quote: "Lean and swift, and boy, he could catch the heck out of it." -- Hall of Famer Berry, who studied films of Hutson in detail. 4. MICHAEL IRVIN Career: Played for Cowboys from 1988-99. Had 750 career receptions for 11,904 yards. Elected to Hall of Fame in 2007. Quick quote: "People might not like some of the other things, but when he was on those stripes, he was as competitive as there is." -- Hall of Fame QB Moon 5. PAUL WARFIELD Career: Played for Browns, Dolphins from 1964-77. Averaged 20.1 yards per catch. Elected to Hall of Fame in 1983. Quick quote: "Warfield was a lot like Charlie Joiner. Every step meant something to those guys. Warfield got into his route and it was like somebody falling off the face of the earth. That's how quick he could be into it." -- Hall of Fame safety Houston 6. CHARLEY TAYLOR Career: Played for Redskins 1964-77. All-time leading receiver with 649 catches for 9,110 yards when he retired. Elected to Hall of Fame in 1984. Quick quote: "Those types of athletes who played more than one position --- Charley Taylor -- are worth the price of admission just to see them line up. That is an athlete right there, a subject in itself." -- Berry 7. STEVE LARGENT Career: Played for Seahawks from 1976-89. Had 819 catches, 13,089 yards, 100 TDs. Elected to Hall of Fame in 1995. Quick quote: "He was as crafty as anybody I could recall. He wasn't a big guy, but he knew exactly how to lean on people and his hands were unbelievable." -- Packers GM Ted Thompson 8. CRIS CARTER Career: Played for Eagles, Vikings, Dolphins from 1987-2002. Had 13,899 yards receiving, 130 TD receptions. Quick quote: "I've never been around a guy as competitive as he is. He is so confident. He was a hard worker, which I enjoyed because whatever I got in practice, I knew that's I was going to get in the game." -- Moon 9. TERRELL OWENS Career: Has 129 TD receptions in career with 49ers, Eagles, Cowboys. Quick quote: "My biggest knock on him is he drops too many balls, but he makes a lot of big plays and he's as good as there is after the catch and he makes difficult catches." -- Moon 10. MARVIN HARRISON Career: Has spent entire 12-yard career with Colts. Set NFL record with 143 receptions in 2002. Quick quote: "Of all the things that impresses me, it's how he goes about his job, how he goes about his business. He's not a fanfare guy. He's just a football player." -- Holmgren
So the EXPERTS put him #2 ALL TIME and you guys are questioning me putting him #1 of HIS time Work ethic be damned, hes been the best WR on the field for 12 seasons now...you guys look into this too much.
i think the person has a lot to do with it... as I said, if he would actually TRY when he played he definitely has the talent to be in his position... as I've said, he could be #1, if he'd just play the damn game as hard as everyone else does... give him the work ethic of donald driver and he'd be literally unstoppable... but he doesn't and thats why he's never going to be #1 (and will never crack the top ten in my book)...
It's no coincidence that Moss has been part of two of the highest scoring offenses in the history of the league: 1998 Vikings 2007 Pats
Well...Moss caught the go ahead touchdown with just a couple minutes left in the 2008 Superbowl...but I suppose if he had a better work ethic he would have played defense for them at the end too?
Sooo....Randy Moss sucks and Favre is too loved? Did I get it right? My take? Randy Moss is hands down the best on the field at catching. You can say he doesn't try, he has talent around him, it doesn't matter. he has flat put up the best numbers with or without this work ethic. The Pats will always be a scary opponent so long as Brady is throwing it with Moss on the field. Favre? Is still good, damn good. But is he the reason for the Vikes new found success? I think most are forgetting how good the Vikes already were. They have the best RB in the league (I think will end up the best of all time), a good D, good everything...the only thing they lacked was a passer. ANY decent NFL QB could have stepped in and filled the slot to perfect this team, Favre actually did it, and has impressed ever since. Many could have made the team successful, but not many could perform like Favre did the other night when AP was shut down and it was up to him. I am a Brady fan but this year I am actually pulling for the Vikes to win it all. That old man sure deserves it the way he has been playing so far. I've given up all hope for the Titans on their supposed come back year. NFL is starting to bore me already to be honest, bring on college hoops.
i don't think so... i don't think anyone said Randy Moss sucks, only disagreement about him being best ever... favre, well, some people will always be haters, some won't, but most everyone is getting sick about hearing about him.... even the favre fans... it was virtually impossible for the announcers to unlock their lips from around favres pole on monday night... i swear every other comment was about him...
