In the past I've used a Bow bat but it has not really worked for me the last couple years. So I've just gone to carrying my bow by hand. What I want to achieve is walking up to my stand, hooking up my safety line and climbing up then hanging my gear. Not separating all my gear at the bottom hooking up a pull rope then unhooking it all and hanging it when I get to the top. What do y'all do. Slings, packs......

I use a bow sling but I still put my bow on a rope and pull it up. Takes about 5 seconds to hook it up.

I pull my bow up all by itself. I've tried to pull it with my pack and got it caught one time and decided that I wasn't going to be a slow learner, so never again. I usually climb with my pack on, then I take my pack off and get situated and then pull up my bow.

I hand carry my bow while heading in, with an arrow ready to take out a grouse or other small game I might happen across. I have a backpack which holds everything I am going to bring up the tree with me. the bow bat I use to carry the bottom two sets of sticks, and other stuff I bring with me but don't want in the tree like a set of Loppers and I leave it at the bottom of the tree.

I do keep my bow in it while in the car or going practicing.

Carry my bow in my hand and everything else in a small daypack. Clip the bow to the tow line and climb up. Hang my pack, pull up the bow and I'm ready to go. I hunt in pretty warm weather so I don't need much.

I guess I should mention that I also bring in my stand and I don't leave my pull rope in the tree. So I lay down my extra clothes and then put my bow on top of that. Run my rope through all of it, then hook to my harness and climb up. I don't care for it because of laying my bow on the ground, chance of it hitting a limb on the way up, leaving extra sent on the ground, etc. Yes I'am careful but stuff happens. I also want the least amount of movement as possible. I'm leaning towards a pack that has a bow holder. I thought I'd reach out and see what y'all do.

Tie my pack and bow to a line to pull up other end to the back of my harness. Stand on my back via shoulder straps. Sticks get hung and then stand while secured by my linemens belt. Climb into stand secured with safety strap. Pull up pack and bow.

GamePlan Gear BowBat XL Sling Pack, this will be my first year using it but I like the idea that I can climb up with it on my back then the bag wraps around the tree. I also use a lone wolf hang on with climbing sticks

Same here. I enjoy having both hands free if for some reason I need them. In the event I don't have a bow rope in a particular stand, or I can't reach it b/c the wind has blown it up into the trees, I can still climb up safely with my bow slung over my back.

I'll buy that bow bat bag if you are going to sell it. Let me know.

I just carry mine in my hand but I carry a tree stand with a backpack strapped to the stand and that can get heavy if it's a long walk.

Thanks y'all. Im gonna give the sling a try and see how that works for me. If it don't then maybe i'll try a larger pack with a bow holder. Trying to consolidate it for a smooth transition.
What slings are y'all using, any recommendations? Pros and cons of them?

I wear my backpack and hand carry my bow, at the tree I attach my hunter safety system gear hoist reel thats clipped to my waist band to the bow and climb with my backpack on. Once i'm in the stand i hang my bag up and reel my bow up.

On the longer walks I use a primos sling. Works well and protects the cams if I was to bang into anything or drop it. Shorter walks I just hand carry the bow.

Badlands superday. Best whitetail pack I've used. Cant beat an unconditional warranty too. I've used a couple other models but this was by far my favorite. Not made to pack anything heavier than a stand

if I'm carrying my climber in I usually use my buttpack and flip it around so its in front of me, its pretty easy to climb using just a buttpack and if you get a nice one you can fit a surprising amount of stuff in them. also tie my bow to my stand before my climb and pull it up when I get where I want to set up.
