Season ends in PA this Saturday. Honestly, I don't think the rut is in full swing yet. West Virginia season is open pretty much 3 straight months and same with Ohio. Both states allow Sunday hunting on private land. With PA ranking in the top 5 states with hunting population and deer/motor vehicle accidents you would think that they would make some changes??? Just doesn't make much sense in my opinion.

I think the rut is winding down. The last week of October I saw lots of deer movement. Not so much now.

I'm on the fence about Sunday hunting. It would be nice to have the weekend off and hunt both days, but I also like giving the deer a break to help them return to normal patterns after being pressured of on Saturdays, especially on public ground.

I am with you on longer seasons, its ridiculous that they cut the season short right as the action kicks up every year. and I am mostly with you on Sunday hunting, it seems like the PGC could be doing the guys who work 9-5 a big favor by giving them that extra day.

Movement my way hasn't picked up until this week. To each his own opinion but i'd love to be able to hunt for atleast first 3 weeks of November and then a week off before gun season opens. Some ppl like myself have a very hectic work schedule and don't have the privilege of having off of work on Saturday.. If PA opened up Sunday hunting that would make a great deal of a difference to me and many others. Let it be the hunters choice, especially guys who hunt private.

What, you don't feel like turning into a popsicle on Saturday?

Yeah the seasons in this state really do suck. The PGC always cries poor, but if they opened up Sunday hunting I'd bet money more people would buy a hunting license. I'd also like to know where all the money went from all the gas wells on game lands. It just doesn't seem like the PGC has the best interest of the hunters in mind.

"Royalties that the commission collects go to the game fund to pay for salaries, maintenance of game lands and habitat improvements" or so they say. But it doesn't mention the tens of millions they receive from signing lease agreements in the first place. Who knows. I too wish we had an archery season that extended another week, and Sunday hunting at least on private property. There really isn't much of a downside to doing so

Tradition, we love our tradition even though it makes no sense. We only just got semi autos and air rifles approved for killing varmints... Couldn't even go squirrel hunting with a Ruger 10/22. The most popular .22 of all

The Pa Season is very different to say the least... being from Md and always hunting Md you start so early in Sept and finish Jan 31st.... up here (I’m in York County and hunt 5B) it’s hard and I really hate that after tomorrow there’s no hunting till the 27th (and that is Firearms) I do hunt with my Bow though even in the Fireman season... but then it ends again and won’t resume till Dec 26th and ends the 13th of January... kinda understand why it’s broken up like that but after all these years I do think the deer population has grown...

No, I was a popsicle on Saturday - I was just chasing turkeys, not deer!

I'll be back at it in second season.

PA seasons are just plain dumb. Always have been, probably will be for a very long time to come. However, I will say that I'm sure glad that they don't open up the rifle season here the day after archery season like Missouri does. They're season ends the second Friday in November, much like ours, but then goes right into Rifle hunting the next day. Could you just image, with close to 1 Million hunters in the woods while the rut is still going hot and heavy?

I wish PA would adopt a Sunday hunting on private land law. I also wish the archery season ran from second week in September (so we actually get to hunt early season food source deer and not feel rushed to kill does before the pre-rut), and I wish it would end the 3rd Saturday in November. Maybe when i'm too old for a vertical bow I'll be able to shoot deer with my crossbow on Sundays here...

Same here, my fingers still feel tingly from Saturday's hunt. It looks like we are gonna have a rough late season

No doubt. Saturday morning started out a cool 16 degrees. As the day went, it got warmer and we had turkey activity all afternoon so it was worth it!
