Look at DDP Yoga and thank me later... I've done P90X in the past, it woks but it hurt me to much... I've got 2 terrible knees, 2 shoulders that need surgery, a bad forearm muscle and 2 blown out wrists "Motocross ain't easy on the body"... I just couldn't do p90x with all my injuries .... So I kept getting fatter. Recently the wife said "hey let's order this", turns out it was DDP Yoga by the old pro wrestler Diamond Dallas Page... I've been doing it for almost a month now and I've already dropped 15lbs and feel SO much better!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have the old P90x, Insanity, and T25. I got them all for free from a friend and I've only done the first half of Insanity. Being the father of a 2 year old, I just don't have the time to dedicate an entire hour to working out all the time so P90x and Insanity are both out the window for me right now. Instead I picked up a used weight bench and may do a few T25 workouts between weight lifting for cardio. They do work but as any workout program ditch the scale because you may not see the numbers drop right away, go based on how you feel, how your clothes fit, and how many inches you've lost.
Week one done! Heck of a workout I can tell you that. Much needed and appreciated rest day. Does leave you sore as all heck (every muscle). On to week #2
If your son is trying to bulk up, I don't see 90x3 as being the solution. He will get toned and defined, but there is too much focus on cardio and plyometrics over muscle mass increase in the 90x3 program. If he uses heavy weights in these exercises, he will only increase his risk of injury and still burn through calories too fast to gain *much* mass. His body will consume itself, and at his height/weight he doesn't sound to have enough fat to consume. The body will burn the muscle as fast as he builds it. *my wife is a certified fitness instructor. This is her professional general assessment of the P90x3. She tells me, being 6-1, 210 and just this side of a fattie, to get my butt downstairs and hit the P90x3. I don't need to bulk up, but my fat covers my muscle tone, and she wants it gone.
Did insanity twice. Now I just think it's boring. Not sure about p90x, but insanity doesn't seem built for long term use. Your knees would be destroyed after an extended time of using it. I prefer a balance of running and lifting instead. As for soreness, just stretch throughout the day or go for a walk. If you're serioius about losing fat, the most important thing is 80% diet and 20% working out.
I have started Insanity a few times. I just don't like it very much. That being said, and being honest with myself, I do need to figure something out. My partner at work (who's a silver medalist wrestler on the Nationals team) is giving me his old Bowflex machine and I'll see how that works.
I did it around 5 years ago, felt great could jump through the roof but I didnt like my look. My wife hated it also. If I ever do it again Ill just stick with my current lift plan and use the p90 cardio. She likes me beef'ier
