Have you found any negative effect on the deer by the odor it puts out? I don't have the model you take with you in the tree. I have one you use to deodorize your clothes with. But I can smell the bleachy odor on my clothes during my entire hunt. It seems the odor stays in some fabrics more than others. I haven't had enough encounters with deer to notice any reaction so far. But I was just wondering if the deer do consider it a natural odor when it is that strong? I know Troy picked one up from BH.com. Anyone else using one of these things and noticed anything positive or negative? The idea behind these things makes sense, but I'm not totally sold on them just yet. I'm from Missouri and you have to "Show Me".
John From what Todd has told us and talking with the guys at Ozonics deer don't fear the smell because Ozone is what is made after a lighting strike so that is why it is natural. I haven't got to use mine yet but will let you know soon..
I have started using an Ozonics HR-100 this season. So far I have not noticed any ill effects with the deer. My sightings have been the same up to this point in the season as last year. I did have a doe and a fawn come in down wind of me on opening day and they were not spooked in the least. Now this is only experience from 3 sits with the machine, but so far the smell has not seemed to have a negative effect.
I havent seen chit on the days (deer hunting on stand) that I have used mine.. Hoping its a coincidence. Putting it back to the test tonight on the fringe of a big bedding area.
The deer smell it but don't associate it with danger or human because it's foreign. For any nay-sayers, it's your loss. Got an email from a guy this morning who killed a doe this weekend. In his exact words: "It works"...
I think people need more convincing evidence that it "works" than just a testimonial from a guy who shot a doe. Give more information to convince people than that. I know what ozone smells like from having a house fire. It is a strong odor.
The first time a deer smells a human/bear/coyote/cougar it would be a foreign smell but I am supposed to believe it wouldn't associate this foreign smell with danger? Funny, here I always thought that prey animals extended their lives by associating everything foreign with danger. Maybe we could hunt in a wet suit under our camo, that would smell foreign to a deer and no human smell would get out except around the face. On second thought I think I'll just keep trying to outsmart the deer instead of out-sciencing the deer.
Exactly my same comment years ago bruce we need a wet suit someday. Ok as for this product are you guys saying just forget the wind?
