Finally got around to "overhauling" my treestand yesterday. I bought a replacement seat, armpads, and buttpad from Cottonwood Outdoors when they were at my local Sportsman's Classic. The seat is THICK and comfy. The adjustment buckles are rubber coated and can NOT come undone unlike Summit's buckles. The bottom webbing on the seat is also stitched in which adds more support. It also utilizes a snap buckle for securing it around the tree. The "butt" pad is thick and comfy too. I can't even feel the metal frame while sitting and climbing. I also replaced the shrink tubing on the cables (have to every year) and also applied a fresh coat of paint. I'm thinking about moleskinning any metal on metal contact points between the seat and platform. Before pic (Molly hated the "old" version too ) Half way done painting Old seat More supportive new seat New seat on the left I was able to salvage the summit straps
Thanks Ga Bowhunter! Matt: Just weighed it. Looks to be about 24 lbs. Little on the heavy side but I'm used to it. Quick draw system...you talking about the snap buckle on the seat that goes around the tree? It's different. I think I will like it. It won't make a "snap" noise if you connect it carefully. The strap is definitely long enough for any tree the climber can climb. Rob: Lol...I might have to. Might be a good side business for me. Thanks Bowhuntingfool! It sure is comfy.
Looks good Finch, I think I'm gonna like my Cottonwood Replacement seat too. At least from what I can tell by testing it out in the backyard.
