I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and accept the legitimacy of the emergency is not in question. That is irrevelant. Had you had an emergency, would they've of refunded any of your money? I doubt it.

For whatever reason, they were unable to perform their end of the contract and an adjustment needs tobe made. How much I don't know.

I am sorry you had a bad experience. I may have missed it... Did you harvest a animal? If not, I would be upset too!

Not to get off topic but is it true a guide is required to hunt elk in New Mexico if you are not a New Mexico state resident? If that is true, I doubt I will ever hunt NM no matter how many trophy elk they have... unless I win a hunt... Nothing like forcing some thing down your throat that costs lots of cash....

I agree. It sounds like you got shafted. If they don't reimburse you, stick to your guns. Haul their *** to court. Get back what is rightfully yours.:bash:

Wow, another thought I had was this outfitter is actually making out even more because he never had to pay the guide his cut.
Hope you can get it resolved without too many more headaches. I'd definitely share this experience with as many people who will listen.

Well this was taken care of after many many calls and they did refund to the both of us $1300. We still apply in hopes of returning to chase elk in New Mexico

As far as being a non-resident hunter, you are not required to hire an outfitter however the odds of drawing are higher if contracted with one.

Interesting... How so??? Do they allow license transfers or something of that nature?
