WARNING: This is a vent... :)

So I made the mistake watching the outdoor channel while I've been working over the last few days. Keep in mind, I never watch it... Shakes head.....

    For the record.

The following statement is applicable to almost all "hunting" shows:

Just because your famous, think you are some kind of super-duper hunter, or have a hot wife doesn't mean you should or are qualified to host your own show.

It takes much more than that to be qualified for T.V.......

No, I will not single out specific shows. It shouldn't need to be said. Everyone with common sense knows which shows I am talking about.

What a bunch of "tools, Rodneys, shafts, and Richards". (No offense if your name is Rodney or Richard) :p

I do agree that the hunting show industry has been flooded with shows as of late.....many of which are...shall we say "less than entertaining." i have about three or four shows that i really enjoy watching. you can tell when people are really passionate about what they are doing and are good at it versus those who are doing it for the "fame" or a paycheck.

Ouchy, I guess with a screen name of Heckler I have to be able to take some stabs. Just remember the "Heckler" can dish them out as well! :argue: and... I am a good looking kid... well atleast at heart. "That's my story and I am sticking to it." Just like a really bad country song... - Collin Raye

I love Midwest Whitetail, Heartland Bowhunter and In-Pursuit. Some informal shows without the BS and celebrity based stuff. I also enjoy Drury Outdoors series of DVD's, not their television shows however. Its pretty odd how things work when your on TV eh?

X2 on the drury outdoors dvd's! Their 100% wild, 100% fair chase series is very informative in my opinion. I also like the white knuckle productions dvd's a lot! I don't watch any hunting tv shows because I don't have cable.

If I want entertainment I watch Ice Road Truckers. For sports/hunting shows I look for information. Now I'm not against a little eye candy but that's not the reason to watch a show about hunting and hunting tools.

Kinda like watching the Weather Channel to get the news. That's what the news channel gives me.

Its all about doing whatever it takes to stay in that bow hunter mind set year round! We are crazy/obsessed and we have no shame in admitting it! But if you are surrounded by a bunch of box stand coffee drinkers who just go out in November and sleep till something walks out under the feeder, then sometimes it takes all the help you can get just to stay excited year round. And these shows (although not to be nominated for an academy award anytime soon, or even that informative the majority of the time) are just something else to get your mind back in that mode even in 110 degree Texas summers..... now proceed to hate if you must. ha :whip:

Personally, I think the best of the hunting shows, are much better than they've ever been. I also think the worst hunting shows, are much worse than they've ever been.

MW, Drury, HB, WP and a couple of the others are very good productions, with quality footage (only reason I watch).

This might be an ******* thing to say, but I think the Mathews TV Show with Dave Watson, is horrendous. Just because I find that guy incredibly annoying on TV. I'm sure he's a good person, but his TV personality is god awful, IMO.

That said, it is pretty sweet that the BH crew was on their show.

So....with this post on here the last few days and i find myself trying to find something to watch on tv on a Tuesday night....I firmly believe the BH.com crew should def have their own show....especially to fill the slots on some good action on a Tuesday night.!!!

Although I only follow Midwest Whitetails, Bowhunt or Die, and the DVD's put out by Whiteknuckle Productions, I think all hunting shows have their audience and do a good job entertaining who they target. Although a show like the Crush isn't entertaining to many experienced bowhunters, I'd think it's quite entertaining to new hunters especially young women. You can say all you want about Lee, he puts a ton of time and has worked hard to get where he is today and that gets my respect. Once you try filming a hunt anyone that can put out a decent product gets my respect because adding a camera to the mix makes hunting extremely challenging. Just stating you have to consider who the show is trying to target as an audience.
