I took my bow in today to get the DL adjusted and the guy said that my bow was out of tune.looking at it on the bow press the string was lower then what it was suppose to be. so it was closer to the inside of the bow then the outside. i had no idea it was out of tune or whatever or a way to know if it was. i planned on getting strings soon but decided to leave the bow with him and let him make some strings for it customarily.he did all he could to it but could not get it back in tune. he said that the string stretched out and made it out of tune, also he said with the new custom strings on it that it will make the cam back in tune. does this make sense to anyone??? also i got a new stabilizer(Doinker A-bomb) and it made me alot steadier. and also i shot the Z7 and it was smooth haha made me want one REAL bad. but not enough green in the bank for one
What type of bow was it? Did you have it sitting in sunlight? How long have the strings/cables been on it? I change my string and cables every year which might be over kill to some people, but I like to be on the safe side for the amount I shoot. I store my bow in a room that does not get hot and I never let it sit in a car or truck ever. Once you get your new string and cables on it shot around 300 shots and take measurements so you can check them from time to time. Does the bow you have have timing marks? How old is it?
Its a PSE bow masters, no its usually inside its bow case and when im using it its not in directly sunlight on purpose or for longer than normal periods.the strings and cables have been on it since last October.timing marks??explain?? and im not sure the age of it, i bought it used back in September and it was in tune then for the record.
Many of the new bows have some type of mark on the cam that is used as a ref. to keep an eye on the timing. Once you get your new string and cables shoot the bow for about 300 shots then tune it and take measurements such as your tiller and other ref. you might want. Write these down and check them from time to time.
I'm confused to what your saying. To be honest you should post a picture so we can all see it and give you a hand. It's confusing without a picture.
What it sounds like to me is that the shop guy noticed that the string was not in then proper relation to the tyiming marks on the cam which could be caused by string and/or cable stretch. That could throw the tune off if it were setup when the cam timing was on. Certainly a new string will fix it because the timing would need to be setup when the string was replaced but it likely can be fixed just by twisting the string and/or cables. I am not saying do not replace the string if needed, just that a new string is not necessarily needed to fix a cam timing issue. You will need the shop guy regardless of which way you go as you will need to press the bow to twist the string/cables unless you have a bow press and know how to do this. Did the shop guy measure the ATA and/or brace height? Those would likely be off also if string/cable stretch was the issue. You can measure those yourself just too see where they are. See item 6 on this web page: http://www.pse-archery.com/img/support/Bow Setup Tuning.pdf
i cant post a picture because the bow is still at the shop but no he did not measure the ATA. the string already has alot of twists in it and he did try and twist the strings to make it better and it did nothing for it.
What a confusing mess...Sounds like someone doesn't know what they are talking about. The so called Pro Shop guy probably had the bow under a little pressure in the press. LOL None of this really makes sence at all. I hope to God you are replacing the string and cables together. If something is that far stretched out then someone really screwed up somewhere for sure or the bow was abused some how. Good luck
