Hey fellas, sorry for the silly question, but I've gotta ask...

I'm interested in purchasing a four wheeler, and have been looking at some on eBay, out of state.

My question is, how does sales tax work? Do I get hit with taxes when I register the thing?

You should have to pay the taxes when you transfer the title. That's what I did when I purchased a snowmobile a few years back.

Yes I believe sales tax is when you register your vehicle in that state. Also depends on your state, some states don't tax on purchases under $XX, some states don't require sales tax on private purchases, and for the lucky few, there are no sales tax in those states.
