Heck, we have a small down in our courthouse parking lot and only a couple of them actually grow their stuff. That's a big reason why we expanded our garden so much this last year. Unless we went to the Amish and bought produce you were not sure where it came from unless you asked and even then they weren't always sure. Even buying local stuff you still have to be aware of the fact that they will use pesticides and other chemicals.

I hear ya, Bruce. We do buy from the same vendors each time. There are definitely some that have a good reputation for growing their own products, and sell at a decent price. No doubt there are some that are reselling produce they bought from someone else.

I honestly go there sometimes just to buy pizza crusts from this one lady. They are incredible. I am not happy if she is sold out when I get there. They go fast.

Never underestimate how lucky you are. Nothing is worse than going to some new dealer because your guy is out and having to linger around with awkward small talk while you get it.

Homegrown is good to, keep your cash local! I like it.

I don't buy into all of it, but I do think that the processed crap that my people are eating cause alot of the health issues at large. Especially processed sweeteners.

We hardly buy any meat from grocery stores. It's either venison, fish from the lake or something from one of our local farms. I don't completely avoid it, I'll have a burger or something when we go out to eat, but that's less than once a month. During the summer we go to the farmers market some, but that has been less & less as we have joined a CSA and get a ton of produce from it. Our CSA has different add-on options too, like herring caught fresh from lake Superior, wild rice, maple suryp, etc.

The biggest issue I have with our farmer's market is that it's so damn short. But that's the nature of where I choose to live. It runs from around the very end of June to the first week in Oct. There's just not much of a growing season up here.

We love watching food documentaries. Watched on lastnight, though it wasn't good. It was on veganism. After saying how healthy it was to be a vegan, they went through the grocery store showing this that were vegan. One of the things they were all excited about was oreos. Yeah, cause those are so healthy for you:rolleyes:

I'm finding myself with a much more holistic approach to my health & diet these days.

We grow a majority of what we eat (in reference to beef and vegetables). Usually 1 beef steer a year and then a lot of vegetables. If vegetables aren't grown by me personally, they are bought from my families market.
