I am new to the cite and have been looking to get a new coat for deer hunting. The Optifade forest camo looks very interesting. But it might just be clever marketing. I just wanted to know if anyone has bought, tried or seen the product and what you thought about it. I haven't been able to make it to store to see it in person. I am interested to hear your opinions. Thanks.

I got a jacket about 4 years ago to evaluate for Cabelas. It was in their "outfitter camo" one of my hunters shot a blue wildebeest and I took my coat off and hung it in the tree along the road to mark where we should stop the truck when we came back to get it. I drove right past that coat on the way to get the wildebeest out. I asked the hunters in the back of the truck to watch for my jacket on when I turned around. We ( all three of us) drove past it again. The frustration was wearing on my because I thought one of the boys might have taken it down.

On the next pass looking for our tracks coming out of the bush to the road, I saw where are tracks were, looking up my jacket was hanging in plain sight. I've been sold on that pattern ever since. If you buy anything they make in fleece it's dead silent to stalk in and blends better then anything I have ever seen before. Far better then all that fancy Photo quality leaf and branch printed stuff.

I wear the Open Country Optifade because in So. CA I am strictly spot & stalk for mulies. Had six deer come and stare at me for four minutes, one of em was only 15 yards from me. They could not see me. Wasn't until I lowered my binos that they took off. Even had a hunter walk by me 25 yards away...never noticed me sittin' on the ground out in the open. I like the SG for the comfort. it's quiet, light, well made, keeps me warm when it's cold and cool when its hot. The absolute lowest pricing is from this guy:

Just call him, tell him whatcha want and he'll have it to ya within a week. I saved hundreds (bought a lot of pieces)!

First off welcome to the site Jordan,
Sitka is a great company with very nice products. the optifade in original and forest are nice and open patterns which really helps you disappear. I switched to predator only because of sitka's prices and Jeff from GWW awsome customer service. But That aside its a great camo pattern and comes in many garments to complete a camo system

I have only seen video clips on this stuff but I am already sold. Look at who is doing the research on these things. I haven't tried it yet but from what I have seen, it is top notch patterns.

    Sure does:D

I was thinking of purchasing some of this stuff before the season started, but I'm still really sold on my ASAT. I wouldn't mind picking up some the Sitka gear for rain/snow.

Don't do it! The SG raingear is waaaay to noisy for anything but sitting.
