I am looking to move out of my home state, and I want to go somewhere with good white tail hunting. While I don't have the funds needed for land in the traditional powerhouse states such as IA or KS, what are your thoughts on maybe SE Oklahoma or NE Texas? Maybe even Northern Arkansas or Missouri?

I've heard really good things about Missouri lately... Not sure about Oklahoma or Texas.. Are you planning on hunting public land since you are short on funds?

If you’re looking for good public land to hunt, move to North Western Kansas. You can drive 20+ mile in any direction before you find another hunter, unless it’s opening day of Pheasant season. lol. Big Deer out there and all most all of the land are public. As Far as Missouri goes, if you’re looking for cheap land (under $1000 per acre) then go to MO, but you’re mostly going to find that the cheaper land is in the Ozark region (south). I used to live in KC, MO and my neighbor had found 60 acres on Truman Lake for $600 an acre. He was looking to split it with others, I would have been all over it, and except he brings everyone he knows hunting with him. I didn't want to own land with someone like that. I however, hunted public land in MO on Truman Lake a few years ago, first day in I shot a very nice 13 pointer at 20 yard standing on the ground.
