After walking my hunting property and finding a bunch of beds and rubs I found this one shed and one jaw bone. I know that aging would be tough, but would this be a freak of a 1.5 yr old, or a somewhat odd 2.5 year old?

Also, people say they can judge age by the teeth. Due to bad light and my flash the picture isn't all that clear, but there didn't appear to be much wear or grinding down on the teeth at all. Would this have maybe been a fawn or yearling?

Pretty tough to say on the antler. Base looks kind of big for a 1.5 year old.... but maybe that's a really small seat. :)

All I can tell you with the jaw bone is that it appears to have had 6 erupted teeth which would make the deer least 1.5 years old.

haha, it is my gf's car seat out of her kia so it isn't massive. But it is a good sized base. It has a huge brow tine compared to the rest of the antler and looks like it could have had a split brow but had it chewed off. It's just kind of weird since most of the deer in the area don't have the biggest brow tines.

Here is another picture of the shed, it helps show the big brow tine.

Shed looks a little thick for a basket rack to me. Maybe a buck on the down cycle or bad genetics.

I was really hoping for it being from a young buck that could be a monster, but I'm leaning more towards what you are thinking.

I wouldn't give up hope yet, There is also a possibility that it could be injury related and the other side could be monsterous. At the very least you know there is a buck in the area.
