Not sure, our last one had to resign for breaking some fishing laws. Haven't had a new one.
There is a Department of Natural resource officer locally but he's a total jerk. He mainly just harasses people who hunt legally. He's caught a few poachers but they were easy pickings... everyone in town knew his deer weren't legal or he was hunting over a pile of corn.

I do truly appreciate the work they do and think they are definatly an essential for the hunting community. But I have yet to personally run into one that is willing to work with you at all or has any personality! I can say I have made a honest mistake and gotten a ticket for it. Everytime I have delt with one and not gotten a ticket they were out to give me one but couldnt find anything on that particular day.

I am by no means saying therr isnt good ones out there as my father has delt with some, but I personally have yet to have meet one willing to work with me at all. And everyone says they are full of good information but everytime I talk with them they dont have the time of day to speak with me other than playing 100 questions with me.

These are the kind that need to be reported. Its a total abuse of power. Harassing law abiding hunters just for a reason to confiscate personal property. Next time this happens report them. These jackwagons need an ethics board hearing.

I totally agree. I wanted to but was afraid we would get harassed every year from there on out.

Here's another not so good story. 30+ some years ago a game warden screwed my dad over good. When you bait bears in Minnesota you have to register them with the DNR. Back then you had to register them with the game warden in the area. My dad and his friend registered them. There wasn't a bear hunter in the area at all and just like that every bait they had out there was this same guy baiting 100 yards from them on every bait. This guy had to get all of the info from this jackwagon of a warden. My dad jumped this bear hunter and asked what the hell he was doing baiting off of his baits? It's public land he goes, I can do what I want. Immediately my dad found the warden and jumped his *** and said why did you give your buddy our baiting spot locations. Of course he denied it. Only way possible for this other bear hunter to find my dads baits was from the info he gave to this warden. I want to list the name of this now retired warden so bad but I'll play nice.

If you report them and harassment ensues...document,document,document. The only way to end corruption is with some kind of paper trail.

I look at it in a sense of you gotta give respect to get respect. They deal with a lot of rude people, just like police officers do..

True, but when they step out of line, and the power they were entrusted with goes to their head, someone has to report it and bring them back to reality. When they are harassing law-abiding hunters and fishermen just because they can, someone needs to speak up. I am in the law enforcement business. There is a reason that Internal Affairs exists.

I totally agree but why is it with some that your guilty presumably before you even get to defend yourself. They can't put everyone in the same boat all the time. That part pisses me off!! By no means am I a hater of wardens. The majority have been good to me.

I've only had two run ins with cpos. Had one check my license when fishing and bsed with him for about 15 minutes. The other stopped me on the way home from my property. He jump in the bed of the truck checked the tags on the deer and checked our guns. Then jump out and said you're good to go. So I have nothing bad to say about cpos.

They have been very nice to me for the most part. I met one on the way back from duck hunting once who seemed to want to find something, and was kind of a dink. One other time I was working on my boat, and forgot to put the battery cover back on, and met a Warden at the boat landing when I went fishing that afternoon. She just reminded me about it, and didn't really check anything else. I was definitely glad she did, because she could have just noticed it, and let me get on my way, and ticketed me for it.

Gotta remember that they are people, some good and some bad. I have only had to deal with one that was a total arse and he was busted with a concealed weapon while driving under the influence and forced into early retirement. Kind of makes me believe that karma is real. I have met them in WV, CO, and OH and all but that one were always polite and cordial. They have a job to do that makes them deal with armed people on a constant basis so I can see where some might be a little edgy though. All in all I have not met too many law enforcement officers that I didn't feel I couldn't get along with.(State, county, and local included.) If your gonna have laws, your gonna have to have someone enforce them.
