My opinion is that they were probably some redneck kid that did not know what he wanted to do with his life, so he thought game wardens had kinda cool jobs being in the woods a lot. So he decided to be a game warden only to quickly realize that game wardens work most weekends during hunting season and make the same as a HS janitor. Now he spends most of his days being bored and dreaming of joining the County Sheriff Dept. Just my opinion though.
LOL Oh Hook.... The ones that I know are extremely passionate about their work. Great guys who take alot of crap and do a mostly thankless job. Two thumbs up for me!
I've met 4 over the years. I've been checked numerous times, never a citation. One guy was cool, the other 3 were jerks.
X2 Now I've met a couple of Federal Game Wardens...they had NO sense of humor at all. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My opinion is I support the work of the Game warden and they are important to keep poachers and other game violations in check. The main issue I have with them is they need to act more like most cops do and use some judgment sometimes instead of subscribing to "Rules are Rules always" mentality. If a person doesn't have a record and it was an honest mistake, and are cooperative, they could give a warning once in a while. I have never heard of a warden giving a break to anyone anytime. Maybe a little personality would help too. Most I’ve ran into have been such stiffs that they seem like a robot.
The guys I've met have an edge for a reason. Nearly all the people you're paid to enforce laws upon are or within arm's reach of a firearm (excluding fishing of course) but just during hunting season think of that...every call or stop you know the person you'll be interacting with and possibly catching red handed illegal will be armed. I've always had the up most respect for the ones that go about their job honestly and not abrasive or purposefully being a jerk. We've worked with and communicated many an issue to our local ones and never had an issue with how they talked to us.
My experiences have been the same. When a cop pulls me over, he usually is cordial and tells me why he stopped me. Game wardens IMO, are looking to write a ticket. You want to check my permit and license? Fine. When they want to look through my backpack, thats just dumb IMO. I even had one ask about dried blood on my fletchings that was at least a month old. Like re-using arrows never crossed his mind.:p
well I think I've only been checked by a warden once in my life, and I knew the guy, so my opinion is probably worthless
I have no problem with them at all. To bad the one I really had gotten to know moved onto another county.
I've met both types...a few jerks a few nice guys...a few that I could see myself being friends with and a few that deserved a swift kick in the junk...its more about the person than the position they hold I think.
