This isn't "tech" necessarily, but I wasn't sure where to put it. Mod's please move it if it's in the wrong spot.

I've gotten the opportunity to upgrade my bow recently and I wanted opinions. I currently have a Diamond that I picked up t Cabela's and an older used Diamond I picked up from a friend. Here's a pic of each:

I've got the opportunity to pick up a barely used four year old Hoyt Super Slam 60-70lb draw for $500 with case, arrows, etc...
    Here's a pic of it:

Is this a pretty good upgrade? I've got the money and I could re-sell the other used bow for what I paid for it. I was thinking it was an opportunity to get a pretty good bow on a budget.

Any opinion is appreciated. I'm a complete newb. This is a brand new hobby for me, but I'm loving it. My future plans are to hunt deer and bigger game.

Looks like a very good upgrade IMO but that's just from looking at the Pic without actually holding it and seeing the wear on the Hoyt I couldn't with conscience tell anyone to buy something. If the guy selling it would let you have it checked out at a pro shop I would before I jumped in blind. Oh and welcome to the Hunt!!!

It has almost no use at all. I know the guy really well. I've been his accountant for 7 years and we get along really well. He's only shot it a few times and never hunted with it. Thanks for your opinion.

Well I bought it. He ended up trading me this year's taxes and $150 cash, so I'm in for about $400 for the bow, case, release, and arrows.

The only opinion about buying a bow that matters is yours and how it feels in your hands when you shoot it.

You could save 100$more and get yourself a used 2014bow.

It feels good, but I also don't know yet what is quality and what isn't.

I haven't seen one in that price range. Just stumbled upon this one.

I wouldnt. Bows lose value very fast. I found this out when I was trying to sell my bow that was a 2010 Hoyt. I looked it up and realized they were only going anywhere from $175-300. For that price tag of $500 I think you can get an even better bow like a 2013 or maybe even some 2014 year old bows.

I appreciate everyone's advice. Maybe I didn't get as great of deal as I thought it was, but I do like the bow a lot.

The only person that matters in this situation is you. As long as you're happy with your new bow, what's it matter what anyone else thinks. Shoot it and enjoy it. Just be sure to post pics of what you take with it.
