I was wondering what everyone opinions are for me hunting tomorrow. Today it was a little rainy this morning and was up to +8 deg C. Tomorrow they are calling for 2-4" of snow and a high of -14 deg C. That's like a drop in 30 deg F or more. Also it will be our first cold snow of the year. What all would you guys do for a game plan? I'm taking the morning off work since it's too crappy to do exterior work. I will have tim around 11am to hunt. Thanks for any ideas or suggestions.
On mornings when the weather is changing like that I like to get out and get set up at least by sunrise, if not a 1/2 hour to an hour before.
I think I will probably be in my stand close to half hour before sunrise. For weather like this I'm not really wanting to be there too early but I am still kicking myself for not even trying to get a shot on the 5x5 that came by last hunt. I want to try and get another chance at him. With the deer most likely being more active due to the weather, is it better to just wait them our or should I call a bit? Would rattling be a good idea or is that not really the weather to rattle in?
if you think the rut is going at all dont be shy, this weather is going to give them an excuse to get up and find a lady to keep them warm! They don't care about eating too much but they are definitely looking for a fight. Its tough weather to hunt in an open tree stand but it get the pigs moving!
