I was wondering if I made the right decision. I traded my mathews switchback xt for a Hoyt Katera. The hoyt has new fuse strings and cables on it with 20 shots on them. What does everyone think
I'd have stayed with the Swithcback XT...but like everyone should say: Do what you're happy with, do that and it's a good deal!
I have a rampage xt and loved the way they shoot. I know the sb xt shoots great and have heard the kateras shoot good too
Do you like shooting the Katera better?? If so then yes you made the right choice. If not then no, you didn't.
I have not shot it yet im getting it tonight. A close family friend said he used it in 3d shoots and never shot better with any other bow
I'd be curious as to why he's getting rid of it if he shot it better than any other bow. You would have to pry my Switchback out of my hands.
I have the same question: If this is the best bow he's shot, why would he be getting rid of it? Sounds like you might have gone for the bait and are about to be reeled in. Are you happy with your Mathews? Is so, don't give up your bow. If not, go for the trade if that's what you want.
Sounds like I have caused some confusion. The friend at the 3d shoot is not the one trading. I asked the friend about the katera and he told me he has one and he has never shot better. The guy im trading with is another guy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The Katera is a nice bow, a little torquy for some, a lot more torquy than the SB you traded for it. If you let that Katera creep much, it'll take off. Which may be part of why he's downloading it. If he's got any shoulder problems at all, the Katera can pull on that shoulder just a little more. Performance wise, they are all they're advertised to be, shoot quickly, and pretty accurate, but they are definitely a different feel than something like the SB you traded. If you shoot a Rampage XT, imagine that bow ramped up a little, and you have a Katera. Those Z3 cams can be very smooth, I have them on an AM35 and it made that bow all that much better, but on the Katera, they were more designed for speed, and it's evident in the draw-cycle.
Just think of this too. I don't shoot the sb. I have to shoot Hoyt's for a show. I appreciate all the opinions. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It all comes down to what shoots better. I have the shorter Katera which has a 6" brace height and it can rip your shoulder out of socket if you let it creep; however, I love the draw cycle and still hunt with it even though I have an Alphamax 35 which is my 3D and backup hunting bow. I know a Hoyt staff shooter that to this day misses his Katera 35. I would shoot it and see if you like it better. If it doesn't shoot better then it isn't a good deal.
Switcback xt is most likely the best bow mathews ever made its 5-6 years old and a lot of people are still using it with the tecnology of today thats saying a lot im not saying the katera is a bad bow but a switchback it will never be i joke with my buddy all the time who has one i want to buy it from him he owns 2 other bows and still wont give it up
IMO, the SBXT is the bow that Mathews has tweaked and twisted each year to come up with their flagship. Great bow. I would have kept it over the Katera if it was ME. I'd buy a Hoyt over a Mathews, but not in this case.
I hope that you shot the Katera first, 'cause it really is "whichever bow fits you best". Niether of those bows fit me well but of the two the SB is my preference. I think that it was/is the best bow that Mathews has ever produced.
