I feel for ya. Kanga and I had winds from every fricken direction this past weekend and it made for some tough hunting. i'm hoping for better this coming weekend.
Same here, my honey hole needs a southerly wind and they are calling for northerly winds through the weekend. That is very rare for early October down here! I've got 2 decent alternative stands but I'm not expecting much.
Multiple stands fella's. Saturday I was mad about this N.E. wind but I did something about it and went out mid day a put a stand up perfect for this wind and near a very good bedding area. Just a tip here sometimes early on were afraid to make mistakes but I feel just keep them to a minimum and you will be fine. Sometimes you just have to take chances. T
I'm about ready to not even care or look at the wind direction. Weather said NW winds, I had SW walking in. ESE most of the evening, then N for the last 45 minutes. WTF?!
They're calling for SSE winds on the first day I will get to hunt. That would be great for a nanny whackin' stand I have prepared. But like you guys are saying, you can't trust the wind forcast as far as you can catch it:d
I have an 8-10MPH NW wind on Wednesday morning, low of 41 and high of 60. This works great for my stand of choice for the morning, I'll shift to another stand for the afternoon and I am psyched.
I have one word for ya, climber. go where you want, when u want. Not as convienent mind you as a ladder stand, but you do have choices.
You never know what the weather is going to be like in this state. I live and hunt only a couple miles from Lake Huron so anything can happen! I dont believe it untill that Morning then I pick my stand.
