With archery opening here in NC on Saturday I am chomping at the bit to get out, unfortunately the forecast is showing storms in my area, now don't get me wrong it would take a hurricane to keep me out of the woods Saturday morning. I have a nice set up about 15 yards inside the woods off of a corn field in a patch of woods that leads to a swamp, the corn is still up for now, I've had success along cornfields in rain before, in fact my first deer with a bow was on a rainy morning on a corn field. What are your thoughts on hunting in the rain? Where have you found to be the best spot in the rain?

If it's raining hard, personally I wouldn't go. I always worry that if I shoot something the blood trail will get washed away. I would watch the radar and make sure I was in the stand when it stopped. If it's just a light rain, I would go for sure.

    Blessings..........Pastorjim

it does show thunderstorms but also a 10 degree drop in temps during the day. That whole chance thing is a funny to could only be night time or early morning showers. I guess we will just have to wait.

If it were Wednesday and they were forcasting rain on Saturday you could bet your buns I'd be on Amazon Prime ordering a good set of rain gear so I'd be comfortable on opening day...which reminds me I need rain gear for this year.

A very light drizzle or mist usually gets deer on their feet. I personally don't hunt in rain because it will wash away the blood trail resulting in a lost deer. A good time to be on stand is before a weather system moves in or right after the rain stops. I have gun hunted in heavy rain from my box blind, but have never seen much deer movement in heavy rain.
