I decided to try out my honeyhole for the first sit of the year...I didn't hunt this property last year so things had time to settle for two years. I get in the stand around 545 just after first light my buddy texts me and says he shot a doe so I'm out of the tree by 730. We take care of his doe and I checked the trail camera photos from the card I pulled while out was out there in the morning. I had a new 8 pointer show up as of last week and got a few photos of him sparring with a 6 pointer. I got so pumped I went out and moved my stand out into the property another 60 yards to the main travel route the deer use...back up a little in time I set the stand off the main trail to start a low impact approach for starting out this year and planned on moving out more during the rut...I said screw it! I didn't even have the wind that I should be hunting this stand...its normally a NW wind stand and I had a SE wind...17:56 the six pointer comes in at 15 yards and I shoot right over him clearly there was a reason for that...Glad it was a clean miss then about 7 mins later the 8 pointer comes in 13 yard shot! He piled up 25 yards away!
That's an awesome story! I had something similar happen to me but the buck winded me at 50 or so yards; never saw him again. Too bad cause he was a dandy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
