I'm not one that likes treestand hunting deer in this dang wind, so instead, me and the boy went pheasant hunting first light today. He flushed three birds, I ended up with 2 roosters.
He's such a ham getting his pics taken..
Might get out an sit in a tree this afternoon if this wind dies down.

What's the deal on the side by side. Any particular history or rarity involved. The wood doesn't show that well so I can't tell. Although... in one it looks like French walnut. It may be a collectors item but the wood looks like an old Mossberg. LOL Nice dog, nice birds. The wind is settling a little but it keeps coming back up and raining off and on. I gave the day up and am watching football and golf.

    Thanks guys

Dave - my dad bought me this gun for my 16'th birthday. It's a LaFever double barrel 12 ga. It's pretty much the only gun I use for bird hunting.
Wind and rain is still hammering here, probably skip tonights hunt and plan on the morning.

Then it's a VERY special gun. Are these native wild birds or are they from the state stocking program. We used to have wild native birds around here when I was a kid but they're all gone now and no stocking in this snow country.

These are all state stocked put and take birds Dave, They just extended the season last year because they realized that they don't make it thru the year anyway, coyotes and hawks and owls do a number on them. They figured they might as well let the hunters have them instead of the predators.

I went to one of those put and take places over north of Lansing just for a look see last year. It's really a cool program....especially if you have a dog to play with.

Gorgeous photos! I don't blame you on skipping out on the bow hunt sit. I hate high winds.
