Does anyone else think that OnX is a giant PITA to use? It seems like every time I use it, I have to **** around with different ways to get the desired function. Feels like it's never the same.

Huntstand on the other hand seems much more simplified. Click on the screen where you want and it tells you who owns it. Granted there aren't as many bells and whistles but it just seems to work instinctively.

Anyone else have any comments on the user-friendliness of either app? Or am I just getting too old to figure out simple technology? Is there a good tutorial for either?

Try Gaia, it is easier than both of them. And I am not an Onx fan.

Honestly, havent used huntstand for a couple years now.. but I thought exactly the opposite when I used both. I did not like huntstand at all but was fine with onX. I still use onX and do not really have any complaints. The only thing I wish one of these apps had was a way to attach pictures to waypoints.

I havent had any issue with OnX.

My favorite feature is being able to download my google earth waypoints into it. Can you do this with Huntstand?

I use the free version of Huntstand. It works well enough for me. Although, having a feature to add pictures of my marked spots would be cool.

I use both. Hunstand is great for weather and crap like that but I haven't had any trouble with onx. I hunt a lot of public and the track me option on onx is great!

Do you have the "private land" option turned on in your map layers?

thanks! That seems to have been the main problem.
When I renewed my membership apparently some of but not all of my filters and settings from last year carried over.

Looking at this with interest. Re: OnX and Huntstand, would the device have anything to do with how it operates. I have a Samsung phone with Verizon. Comments are welcome. Like to get one as my grandson wants to hunt this year. Right now, limited to WMAs as I don't know anyone with private land to hunt.

I've got a Samsung phone with Verizon network and I have never noticed any type of issues. I dont get into remote areas where I am so service is never an issue but I use it a ton and never any problems. I use it about daily in the fall, actually more for work than hunting.

I believe I started with Huntstand, then went to Onyx and back to Huntstand. I guess I haven't been in a situation that I needed to try the track me feature in Onyx but I can see how that would be useful.
