Went up to my camp in Ontario for 7 days last week to do a little scouting for deer and a little bit of fishing. When I say a little, I literally only fished for probably 2 hours.

My buddies Bill and Ted were each able to land a 44" Pike, but unfortunately I wasn't there to take any pictures. In the little bit of time I was out though, Bill and I were able to get a few decent ones in the boat.

I was able to set the hook into a 41". My biggest of the trip. Not as fat as the others, but she was long.

Of course these big girls were all returned to the lake to live to fight another day and lay a ton of eggs again next spring.

Nice fish Dan. I fly out of Ear Falls June 5. Hope to catch some like that. Looks like it was nice out too.

I think the pictures and the fish are awsome, but what i really dig is the fact your friends are named Bill and Ted:rock:

Good luck! What lake you flying into?

The last day we were there the lake was like glass all day and about 65 degrees out. The last couple of fish in the pictures were from shore where the river dumps out of our lake into a lake just north of us. We just chilled on the bank drinking Leinies, soaking up the sun and watching bobbers.....we were using Cisco for bait then.

I found it kind of amusing when I typed it as well. Bill is actually BH.com staff member Johnny "Miller" Herrmann's dad.

South Rapids Lake. Will be my first time at that lake. Other lakes I have flown into are Severn, Irwin, Apps/Meddick......if any of those ring a bell. I believe they are mostly near Woodland Carabou park and NE of there. Curious if you caught those on artificial baits?

The only one is Severn.....but is that Severn Lake or River? Who do you fly out with? Most of the lakes I know are flown to by River Air in Minaki or Kenora Air. I don't know as many of the outfitters East of the Kenora area.

My camp sits about 35-40 miles south of Woodland Caribou Provincial Park. Ever been fortunate enough to see a caribou up there?

Not sure about Severn. I believe it is a river system. Fly out with Showalters just north of Ear Falls. Will have 2 lakes to ourselves this year. Last year at Irwin we had 6 lakes to portage and saw all of them. Never saw a Caribou. Moose and Bear most years. Got probably too close to this guy. Lots of fun!!

Very nice! I know Showalters run a great operation. Enjoy the tip and I want to see some pics when you get back!

It does. Though, you know how it goes in the summer.....very little time to do anything outside of work in that business. Now that we have kids, I'm really looking forward to actually being able to do family things together this summer. If I was able to sneak away from camp with Jill and the kids for an hour it was a big deal, and it didn't happen very often.
