This is late info for this year but I try to scout a lot out of season. After the season is over if little or no snow or in the spring after the snow leaves is a good time to learn the area. Some of the deer might be shot then but there will be others using the area in the next season. Spend a lot of time looking and learning the lay of the land. In season scouting is fast and to just check for recent sign and any changes like a recent timber harvest or when scrapes, rubs start to show. In season scouting can also include where others are using the land and how deer react to their presence.
Thanks guys. I found out about this public area from a buddy just after opening day here in wisconsin. I think I know one or two more areas bedding might be I'll keep you guys updated. This stuff helps a lot.
