I have a question, I have been watching a certain area each night around sunset of the land I am going to hunt this year and I am wondering if it is normal to only see does. I see anywhere from 8 to 10 each night in the areas I want them to be in which are the 2 areas I was considering putting a stand. Mostly small does at that, only 1 or 2 shooters so far. Just wondering if that is normal for this time of the year, if maybe I should put up a trail cam? Or should I be looking for a different spot?

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that does with fawns tend to isolate themselves from herds and especially bucks to protect the fawns. Not to say a buck would harm a fawn but the mother can keep a better eye on their young without any other deer around. Plus bucks will bachelor up this time of the year up until fall. They tend to sleep during the day hours and move mostly after dark. I'm sure there are a few horns in those fields later on after the dark takes other fully. I'd personally set up a camera inside the woods about 50 yards and you'll most likely catch those buck cruising until darkness falls. But my first guess on the bucks are they have a different food source they are hitting now try and find it. When it’s hot like it is now they tend to feed close to water. Find the water source then find the food source. Good luck.
