Possible changes for Illinois include: 1. First firearm season changing from Friday-Sunday to Saturday-Monday. 2. Leftover firearm tags may not be sold over the counter except for youth season 3. Expansion of more counties not having late season firearm antlerless season Maybe other changes coming. I am still of the opinion of NOT allowing endless antlerless permits for archery season, at least in those counties with declining deer numbers.
So would #2 do away with otc tags all together except for youth season? #1 Don't make much sense to change
The only thing I can think of for #1 is maybe they think it will cut down some of the non resident tags filled Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I like it all. Why is #1 stupid? It would give us another day of archery in primetime before the gun season. Also people wouldn't have to take Friday off of work if you didn't want to. Hunt opening day and Sunday, and head home.
I think with #1 they are trying to give the gun hunters more time to hunt. That opening weekend is the week of Thanksgiving and a lot of people take that week off already. So instead of gun hunters having to take an additional day on Friday they would still get the same amount of time just into the next week. Doesn't matter to me either way.
I don't mind the season change to Saturday. Firearm season is more of a family deal for us at deer camp then anything else. Yes we would like to shoot a few deer but I think we can do that on a Saturday just as easily as a Friday. I know it probably won't happen but I would like to see IL go to a OBR. But the loss of revenue would be to great.
