And a bunch that didn't..haha.. My hawk Moka has turned out to be an absolutely amazing hunter. We're up to 35 rabbits for the season so far. This was one lucky bunny.. And some not so lucky Our first and only triple for the year so far.. A buddy of mines Harris Hawk took a liking to my truck Here he is hunting from a T perch. Still working on getting some good videos..That has turned out to be harder than I imagined it would. Take care Dave
You know, you post these quite often, so I'm used to seeing them and every single time I find myself thinking, "How does he do that!!!!!" Fantastic as always!
amazing! just curious do you have a link to info on what it takes to get into hawking? I assume there are a lot of permits etc just to own a hawk.
thank you a lot of good information on there, I admire your dedication to it personaly I think they are amazing birds but could not dedicate the time and money involved. look forward to seeing any videos you make in the future
Ok that is awesome. i have a random quesstion. Does the hawk get along with the dog. Heck I am impressed they pose in a picture together.
I started training her the day I trapped her (Sept 1'st) with my dog always present there with us. I wouldn't say they are buddies but she does tolerate him. If he gets too close to her when she has a rabbit - she will grab at him. She got him on the snout just once and now he knows enough to stay just far enough away from her when shes on game.
Yup... appropriate use of the word "Awesome" by all who posted before me. Your pictures truly capture the story and event. You and dog look like you're having fun. The hawk.. well he she just says, "I'm a killer and the best there is... just back off".
THis is my 3'rd bird. The first 2 I released back into the wild after fattening them up after hunting season was over. This bird is such a great hunter I'm going to keep her at least another year and hunt her next year. I could keep her forever if I wanted to but I will more than likely just hunt her one more year and let her go. I'm excited to see how her redtail comes in after the moult.
