One of my goals (at least for early season) this year is to trim the fat in terms of equipment I take into the woods. Thus far, I’ve done pretty good by ditching a pack all together and stuffing as much stuff as I can in a small pouch under the seat of my stand. The only thing left I REALLY want to bring but haven’t found a place to stash, is a water bottle. Does anyone have any ideas on packing water into the woods without putting it in a backpack or carrying it in hand? Thanks in advance. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I've always wanted to cut a giant vine with a machete and drink the water out of it. Saw it in Predator when I was a kid and thought it was the coolest thing.
Same thing as the yeti bottle carrier mentioned earlier but just the cheap Walmart brand. Works great and probably carried just as well as the expensive version. Oh and keeps the water cool on early season hot days. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
In all seriousness, I carry a small pack with me that doubles to lash my outer layer clothes/jacket to. If it weren't for carrying the clothing, i'd have little need for a pack. I've always been a minimalist when hunting. For water, any water bottle thats quiet and carries enough water for me is good enough. Think the one I use now is a cheap 5 dollar one.. nothing fancy.. it just holds water... lol.
Sill rocking a minimalist fanny to go light. Just enough room to keep track of the essentials. It has a side pocket for a water bottle. I keep a small, kids sized water bottle in mine or a mini-Gatorade. I also like a minimalist style predator vest for quick hunts. I am working on getting my saddle setup to carry all the essentials, so I don't have to bring both.
I have a bladder pack I wear it under my outer wear. In the warm weather it keeps me cool with ice water and in winter I use hot water to warm my core. It has a sip tube /mouth piece.
I just got mine out to see name...I can not link from this device it's called: Cannibal. Stupid spell check. CAMELBAK
How do you wear it? Everything I’ve seen shows putting it in some sort of backpack. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
It is itself one "back pack", but that said, its pretty thin, even full and I wear it over my base and under my outer coat. Now if your in the north and sit back against a tree, it keeps your back warm . Like I said I use hot water. Even though it cools enough to drink warm water. Learned the hard way about core temp. drops. I'll post s pic later.
That’s always a challenge for me. I bring enough crap with me to climb Mt Kilimanjaro and live there for a month. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I bring my bow, sometimes binos, and piss bottle. That's it. It amazes me the stuff friend take for a 3_4 hour sit.
I put an old pair of bino's next to it to show size. To me not very big but carries enough water for me. Son got this for me because I've passed out from heat stroke working. I forget to drink and this keeps my hands free.
Never bring a water bottle = never bring a piss bottle. I’ve brought a few Busch Lites to the stand maybe once or twice. My bow in hand, release on my wrist, and Binos on my chest are the only things I need for a 4 hour sit. No use in over complicating something that is not complicated. Dear Lord, without water I'd be a coughing fool out there. Even with cough drops my throat is as dry as a bone with gremlins tickling it non-stop.
MnHunter. I don't drink coffee but drink way TOO ,diet dew. Hence the piss bottle. Love beer but have only brought a beer on stand maybe a couple times in my life..
Why the piss bottle? Is there some kind of rule against peeing out the tree in your state? Deer don't mind it. Natural attractant.... Start a scrape and pee in it out the tree. Seriously....
