The main difference is that you can change the limbs of a takedown recurve, i.e. when they are broken or you cannot carry it as one piece. Some producers sale the limbs without the riser, sothat you can change your draw weight without buying a completely new bow.
If you have the money a Bear TD is about as good as they get. The latch system requires no tools and the bow is a top of the line performer. Second best would be the Pittsley Predator. It is the fastest shooting recurve available and is a joy to shoot. If cost is a concern then look at the Samick Sage. Sent from my iPad Mini using Tapatalk Bows, Broadheads and Backstraps
Have any experience with the samick deer master? Came across a deal on one and should have it in the next few days. I was planning on a sage sometime in the near future but when this came up figured if I wasn't a fan I'd be able to easily make my cost back and probably more. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I've never shot any Samick but the Sage. I would assume the same workmanship would be out into the Deer Master. I will mention that as of late I have heard of a few incidents of riser failings. Someone posted a picture of a Sage riser that snapped in half. The archer received quite a good bump on the head. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I read about a few things like that too. I think one had a potential cause with leaving in a hot truck in the sun for extended times strung or something but some others didn't really have any explanation. Hoping since those stories have been pretty limited that it's a few freak instances. Good to know it's potential though. All the more reason to take best care of them.
