Yeah. Worst case scenario you could try using the Canon Loyalty Program on it. 20% off refurbed bodies when trading in broken equipment.
I sent it in to Canon. They got it on Tuesday, but I haven't heard back yet on what the prognosis is.
Sounds like those are errors with the shutter. Glad it worked enough to boot up though! Hopefully you get a good outcome. Definately sounds like their CS is great to work with.
Well here's the latest. Turns out they are going to be able to fix it, which is astonishing to me! Both camera and lens. However, the total bill was going to come to $800. It would have been higher but they have a parts cost limit on kit lenses. With their customer loyalty, current promotions and such, I was able to get a new kit sent to me for $900. I was leaning this way anyways, but the kicker was the new kit has their 1 yr factory warranty, which the fixed one would not. $100 is well worth the piece of mind that the camera I'm holing hasn't been to the bottom of the lake. I'll be putting the $30/year rider on my insurance to cover the camera this go round. I should have my new camera by early next week. I've hated not having a good camera around the last month. In the future I'll be getting a back up body (or using the 70D as the back up). Pretty happy with all my dealings with Canon's CS. I'm still impressed that it was fixable. Won't be jumping the Canon ship anytime soon.
Impressed it was fixable as well...testament to a product no doubt. You should have told them they could fix it and use it as a slogan in exchange for a new camera? bahaha! "Your camera visited the bottom of a lake...Canon's got ya covered."
