Well I said it in another post I always wanted to shoot a Christmas deer and have never had the chance to hunt on Christmas with kids and all, well my wife gave me the green light with the kids all grown up and all. Well I went up to my mom and dads house because the deer are just pounding the food plot up there, I sat Wed. night and and had a awesome 150# deer come walking right by my stand I was at full draw and relized it was a buck that had shed already so I let him walk. Then I had a great 130# doe walk in came to full draw again and relized the camera wasn't running so I had to let up again and the buck saw me and they all bolted away. Well then came Christmas morning and like a script someone had wrote here comes that 130# doe back alittle more cautions this time but she came right in camera running 15 yards chip shot back starps and tenderloins for breakfast. SWING AND MISS!!!! Now I can make that shot 100 out of 100 times and not trying to make any excuses but and big ole fat squirle jumped off a tree right by the doe as I was pulling the trigger and she spun at the same time and nothing but snow!!! Just goes to show you can shoot and shoot and have all the confedence in the world and in the woods anything can happen. Well no Christmas deer for Wally but man was it fun trying!!! Walt

Those dang squirrels! Actually I have a good story about one. Easing my way into a stand one day I heard a deer take off on the other side of a small ridge from me, the wind was in my favor so I blow at the deer and hear it stop, I take cover behind a little oak (about 4') that still had some leaves on it, let out a few soft grunts and then start rubbing the little oak with my bow limb and start scraping the leaves on the ground with my free hand, I can hear the deer moving its way back to me and then stop. I repeat the process several times till I can see the bucks rack appear over the ridge walkin right at me, just as his body cleared the ridge a squirrel jumped off a tree and went bouncing through the leaves about 40 yards to my left, the 9pt gave me a broadside when he turned to watch the squirrel and I made quick work of him with the old Kodiak T/D, well not to quick, I spine shot him, Hay I was excited what can I say! If it was not for the squirrel, I dont know if I would have been able to get the shot off.

SUCCESS!!!! Well I fimed my hunting buddy Steve last night shooting an awesome big ole doe. We had snow on the ground with rain falling and fog blowing in an out with the wind, I was on the other side of the doe and got the passthru so the footage looked really cool. Now I know man law but my camera broke so he is going to get me some pics when he gets home.. Walt

I've never hunted Christmas day, but I've killed deer the day after 2 of the last 4 yrs, both being big FAT old does that were the "queens" of the forest, including the one in the thread I started just a big ago.
