I decided at work today I was going to take my two kids out hunting they both have been hunting with me but just at the same time. My son is 5 and my daughter is 8. All three of us in a ground blind on the edge of a corn feild. They had fun together watching squirels, turkey and 7 does. They gave all of them names along with a raccoon they spotted. On the way out of the feild they were trailing deer prints and having a ball tracking. Best night of hunting in a long time thanks to my kids. Hunting is supose to be fun to some point and making memories that last forever. Hope everyones else's kids bring big smiles to parents faces while hunting or in the outdoors. Great post!! Couldn't agree more. I recently bought a ground blind so I can take my 4 year old daughter with me deer hunting. Probably not a good Idea to take her up the tree with me. I think my daughter Is just as excited as I am to take her with.
Hunted with youngun yesterday. Had a grouse walk by, and the comment was "Look Dad, there's a Chicken on the trail!!" Gotta love it.
I remember my step dad taking me hunting with him, sitting in the ground blind. Deer or no deer, those are the best memories I have. I hope I have the chance to give my kids the same memories when I have them.
Don't know how many times I had to bite my tongue from them making noise a little to loud. Tellin them they got to be more quite then I just told my self there just kids and there having fun out hunting. The best part was when I got out the fawn bleat and blew it my son just looked at me and started giggling which even made me laugh. Aleast they got to have fun and see deet. so very true... I remember the first time I went hunting. I fell asleep on my dads Arm. I woke up to a 12 gauge going off in my ear. hahaha Then dad saying Doe down IT WAS GREAT
My best two moments in hunting were being in the stand with my wife when she shot her first deer (archery equip. to boot) and in the blind last season with my son when he took his first buck (it was with archery equip. also)! Couldn't slap the silly grin off my face!
And just think, as much as you enjoyed it, when thay get older, they'll never forget it. Blessings......Pastorjim
I have been fortunate enough to be with both of my younger brothers when they took their first deer. I got excited and was hooping and hollering like an idiot with the oldest ones doe. My younger little brother took his first, a decent 8 point, a year later and only about 3 days after our grandfather passes, that was an emotional time and made me realize how blessed we are to experience moments like these, as they don't happen often.
