He'll be pissed that i posted this but please keep Gutshotem in your thoughts. I'm not gonna get into all the details but we were hunting together yesterday in Schuylkill county. I was gonna try to film him whacking a doe. It was all a blur and happen so fast. My buddy fell from 25ft up. He was using a tree saddle and the only thing we can think is that somehow a strap or something got stuck in the main clip. He went from being ready to hunt to being on the ground. He landed in between two rocks the size of basketballs. Pitch black when it happen. I do believe i set a record for throwing all my **** out of my stand and sliding down the tree basically like a fire pole. I was able to finally find freakin cell phone service and run for help through unfamiliar woods. After a helicopter ride, he's now in Geissinger. Given the situation everything is looking promising. Layed up for a little bit and a back brace for a couple months but looks like everything will be back to normal before long. Scariest thing i've ever dealt with, i'm sure he feels the same. Zach
Man o man..that is really scary. I am very glad that you helped get him out of there and that he will live to hunt another day....that is the best news of this unfortunate situation. Please tell Gut that I am thinking of a speedy recovery for him.
it hits home when its someone i semi-know or know of. i was thinking all day yesterday about you guys on my long drive home from illinois. he is very fortunate you were with him. i just think of all the times i am out in the middle of nowhere all by myself. hope he gets better soon. right now i just have a waist belt type safety strap. i may put a full harness on my christmas list.
Glad to hear the outlook is good. Best wishes to him on getting well quickly and completely. It is a good thing you were there.
