Feeling good feeling great! Not sure I'll make it back to Kansas Sept 14... Might just be waiting for the Iowa opener Oct 1.

Calling the man who has been trying to find me a private piece today... Hopefully that goes well. Otherwise time to keep scouting public.

I hate that doe tags are specific by county here. I'll buy one for two counties and try to at least fill one...

Well all, there's not a whole lot to the story but got set up around 330 and had only been sitting about an hour or hour an a half but coming out of the bean field was the doe. I watched for for a bit as she made her way towards me. I was hoping the bachelors that hang around there would start coming in too but never saw them. She got to a 22 yard spot that I had ranged when I first got set up. Perfectly broadside, I decided to take the shot and a perfect double lung. I watched her run about 40 yards deeper into the woods and heard and saw her crash. I wanted to hang out for a bit to see if any bucks showed but within about 20 minutes I could see they flies swarming her. It was about 95 degrees out and really didn't want her to start backing so decided to climb down and get her. As soon as I got down, I realized I didn't set my camera to record the shot so I missed out on that. I was already hooked on bowhunting but after taking my first, I'm forever hooked! Heading back out tonight and hoping to see one of the big boys!!

Awesome Brian!! Nothing like that first deer with a bow - an awesome accomplishment!

Play your cards right and you might just get your first buck with a bow this year too. That would be an unbelievable accomplishment as the learning curve is pretty steep for first time bow hunters!

Thanks sycamore, I've been at it for 4-5 years now and the first time I was actually able to draw on one. They've always been a ways away. First day of the season so hopefully that's a sign for the rest.

A decent blind I picked up today now I just need to scout a good spot out where it will work. More flexibility for public land as well so I had to get it. It was also handed down to me so this season just keeps getting better gear wize. Now I just need to find a good location. [IMG]
