I don't think its fair to say those teams were overrated. OSU was ranked #1 from day 1 and UM was #2 when they played in the last regular season game of the year. If I remember correctly, it was the highest rated televised regular season game in college football history. UM clearly had a let down not playing in the national title game. Not saying USC wasn't better on that day, but it didn't look like UM was up to play that game. OSU layed an egg against Florida, not much I can say about that. Having 7 weeks off between games definitely doesn't help. That is the Big Ten's fault for that. Other conferences are still playing for 2 weeks after the Big Ten is done. Oklahoma suffered the worst loss in championsip game history just a few seasons before, but I don't remember everyone crying about them being overrated and ruining the national championship game.
Anyone catch the Aflac trivia question? Yikes...14 yrs since USC has been beaten by a Big 10 team...at least it was Penn State I agree to an extent...our conference has weakened, but hey, OSU played well, and USC...well, it will REALLY surprise me to see them in the NC.
What does that have to do with anything? Fact is, they were ranked #2 prior to the game... Doesn't matter how many starts a player has... I am missing your point?
