Nope, it resides in Saban Nation. Scott I am sure you have been to the shoe, Bryant Deny has to be every bit as impressive. We are so loyal that no matter what, the place is absolutly crazy. We got to get this new kid rollin seven mag...like you said Wilson was no stud (to me) but he had alot of expierence. Hope this kid does not get his lumps next week. SEC is hard enough without losing to an ACC team right off the bat.
107,000 strong:D In all seriousness, Penn State will end up probably at #2 (hopefully not #3 finishing up with Mich State at the end) in the conference. I think both OSU and Penn State lost key seniors, but even though we have the Buckeyes at home this season, I'm not holding my breath. I think Pryor will come in to his own this year, and show a solid performance. Everyone is saying that game (OSU/PSU) is going to be the determining factor for the conference champion, but look at last year. We beat OSU at home, then blew it against Iowa (not a knock on Iowa, they just weren't the focus of the season). College football has too many surprises (which is why I love it). We, as a conference, need stronger non-conference games, though, and more bowl wins (big wins). The Big Ten is more or less an afterthought all season by most people. I'm actually pulling for OSU to beat the Trojans. Not only do I really not care for the Trojans (or anything in California in general:D), but I like to see our conference do well in BIG games. I root for EVERY big 10 team in every bowl game. If the buckeyes can pull off a win against USC, it will do well for the conference, and I can take that, even if we don't pull off a win against them later in the season. As for the other conferences? It's going to be the usuals. WV and Rutgers in the Big East, Oklahoma/Texas battling in the Big 12, the Pac 10 might not be as one-sided with USC as usual, the ACC...eh who knows, and SEC...well, they're always just good, but I think Florida has the leadership, AND the schedule.
I'm giddy with excitement for Thursday night. And will not be able to sit still right before kickoff for the LSU vs UW game. I have finally have joy in life again.
DETROIT (AP)—Several Michigan football players claim the program regularly violates NCAA rules limiting how much time they can spend on training and practice sessions, according to a published report. Players from the 2008 and 2009 teams told the Detroit Free Press for a story published on the newspaper’s Web site on Saturday that the amount of time they spend on football activities during the season and in the offseason greatly exceeds the limits. The players spoke to the newspaper on condition of anonymity because they feared repercussions from coaches. Coach Rich Rodriguez and the university’s compliance director, Judy Van Horn, both denied that the football program was violating NCAA rules. “We know the practice and offseason rules, and we stay within the guidelines. We follow the rules and have always been completely committed to being compliant with all NCAA rules,” Rodriguez said in a written statement to the newspaper. Van Horn said her department conducts “in-person spot checks of practice during the academic year and summer. We have not had any reason to self-report any violations in this area with any of our sports.” NCAA rules allow eight hours a week for mandatory workouts during the offseason. However, players told the newspaper that they spent two to three times that amount on required workouts. The players also said the amount of time they spent on football activities during the season exceeded the weekly limit of 20 hours and often exceeded the daily limit of four hours. They also said quality-control staff often watched seven-on-seven offseason scrimmages that are supposed to be voluntary and that only training staff are allowed to attend. The Free Press said five of the 10 current or former players it interviewed gave similar accounts of how the program is run and a sixth player confirmed most of the descriptions. Other players gave a general idea of the program. None disputed the allegations, the newspaper said. The players acknowledged they had signed forms stating NCAA rules had been followed and had not told the university’s compliance department about their concerns. One player told the Free Press that athletes would get in trouble if they didn’t sign.
oy.... bama loses a couple players for the opener including their starting RB... gonna be tough for them to beat VTech this weekend...
It sure is nice to have the season open again... To bad some ******* had to give the sport a black eye yesterday.
You know what they say...."You can take the boy outta the hood but you can't take the hood outta the boy."
That was an enjoyable game... I loved that they won... Especially after all the talking heads said "the big 12 offense" had no chance against "the sec defense".
They did stop us from running between that tackles, but other than that, it was a field day (after we got our heads on strait). It was a fun game to watch, and I can't wait to congratulate my classmates :D
Maybe you should walk on next year... Dez Bryant will be gone... :p We all saw what you did to that Sooner during one on one drills too! :D
No shock to me that Georgia lost that game, Mark Richt once again proves that he can not win a big game. I honestly can't remember the last time they won a BIG game. The guy had 2 first round draft picks and still couldn't win the SEC, let alone a natty c. He's bank for a 9 or 10 win season every year but never can close the deal on the games he isn't supposed to win. Props to the Okies, they are a great team.
