Well folks, The end of the season for MN is near. The end of my season is near-er. Monday to be exact. As of tonight at Midnight, I will be on Vacation Until January 4th . My wife and I will be driving out to the North of Carolina's, starting Monday after she gets off of work. That being said, I will be utilizing my time left here, and giving it two last shots. With nothing in my freezer this year. I have to. I have givin it too much of my time, and energy this year to give up now:mad1: . I am just not sure if I want to stand IN the pines, more towards the thickest of the thick, or sit in my stand, that may just be off of the path. But, only tomorrow will tell. I know they have been simply wandering through the pines, to get back, and forth. So, I may just have to strap on the new stealth cam for a night, and see just exactly when it is that they are coming through. Maybe for once, I will get a pic of something other than a camera owner searching for his camera in the dark... Then again, that would just be one more thing that I would have to take out with me on monday... grr. Well, wish me luck. Will post again on Sunday eve, maybe Monday morn. -Over and out- (don't tell my wife, but I may have to drive her to work on monday to sneak up there again before we leave... )
No such... I am pretty bummed with how that all went. Did I see any deer? Yes. Were they in range? More than not. I had two come in, but stay on my one bad side again. Just shrugged it off. Then just after I got back from coffee, I had three does come in from behind me. Unfortunatly I was not paying attention, and trying to catch my breath from the half mile walk, through a foot and a half of crusty snow. (not a smart choice). Then I fell asleep, and was so rudly awoken to the crunch from a 5 pointer (that was the one antler he had left. ) What a jerk. It was like he made sure I woke up, just so I could see him staring at me. I think my snoring was what called him in. lol. But, I can't really be mad at that. I saw quite a bit. Then when the sun was going down, I called it a day, packed up, and went home...empty handed. I really can't say I failed, but I can. I have found a new favorite spot for late season. I just need to work on not letting the trees rock me to sleep. lol.
Sounds like a great time in the woods. I love this time of year as long as the temps aren't below zero and we dont have two feet of snow. The woods are so quit and calm and I don't really have to worry about hearing the sound of gun shots ringing out on the bordering property. My hunt tonight was short and it was my last try as I have plans for tomorrow and work the rest of the week. It was a grueling season and I put more time on stand than ever before. I am almost sad that it is over, but its time to start shed hunting and getting ready for turkey season and trout fishing.
We were in Raliegh, near wake forest? We got back on sunday. Next time. I will have plenty of time. We are planning on moving there.
