I've gotten this fawn on camera a lot and I've noticed her left eye never lights up in the IR flash. I can't tell if shes blind in one eye or missing it all together. In previous pics she looked pretty beat up on that right side as well. Thoughts?

Actually it's her left eye :D, but it looks like she's missing that eye to me.

Maybe she is winking at you cuz she thinks your cute? :dan:

Easy to keep track of though! Kinda neat as I got a floppy ear year and half buck all of 2013. Neat to keep tabs on him. Had he not had a floppy ear I would have never tracked him through out the year.

Friend at work had a buck with a eye like what you pictured. Showed me side by side pictures for 3 years now as he could always keep tabs on him due to his missing eye.

Missing an eye = blind. Your deer is definitely missing an eye. I have a 3 1/2 year old buck that is missing an eye. I also have a buck and a doe that have gun shot wounds to one of their front legs. The guy with the missing eye seems to be getting along a bit better than the crippled ones.

I'm actually surprised there aren't more deer out there missing an eye, considering how they run right through thick brush/branches all the time. Especially in the dark! It's amazing.

Kept a pet buck fawn years ago that I found out later was blind. He had been hit by a car and I carried him home. You'd never know there was anything wrong with his vision, he followed me around like the most loyal dog. I gave him to a veterinarian on James Island SC which was the first I knew he was blind.
