Do you shoot with both eyes open or close one?

I just naturally went to closing one eye, like i do when shooting a rifle, but I've noticed on a few shows that they keep both open. Am I hurting myself by closing one at the moment of truth?

I'm in the process of conditioning myself to shoot with both eyes open (considering that was the whole reason I switched to LH). It's tough, and I tried this winter during the Vegas league, but with a yellow .010 top pin on the yellow face, the pin just completely disappeared. It's hard for me to overcome the tendency to want to close an eye.

I kept one eye closed until last year. Too many guys told me to try shooting with both open. It's difficult for me because the only thing I do as a south-paw is shoot my bow. I'm naturally right handed and right eye dominant  I found that I prefer having both eyes open, after a little refining; I lock on with only one eye, then open the other. Not sure why, but it works for me.

both open. But I am left eye dom and shoot right handed so I have my cap to where it shields out my left eye while aiming. Its just more comfortable for me to have both eyes open.

Currently I shoot with 1 eye, but over the summer I am going to try to train myself to keep both eyes open.

I have tried the whole two eyes open thing. It feels great on my eyes, but I cannot for the life of me focus on the pin with both eyes open. It blurs like heck. I don't feel it gives me much of an advantage when shooting with both eyes open as compared to only one eye.

Well, I'm not feling all that bad about shooting one eyed. I'm right eye dominant, right handed as well, so that helps. I'v tried to do the 2 eye thing and find that I lose focus on the pins and/or aiming point. But after seeing it done, i was starting to wonder of I was missing something.

I have tried both open but couldn't get it. So I just went back to 1 eye.

Honestly, I kind of mix it up a little bit. For longer shots or low light, I've noticed that I shoot with both eyes open. But when I'm shooting at close range sometimes I notice that I close one eye... Guess I should probably always do one or the other, but I don't really pay attention to it. :d

One eye. But what is screwing me up is that my right was domininant, but since laser surg. a few yrs ago, I can't see up close w/that eye. So my pins are a little hard to see because of the close distance.

Actually, that's the category I fit myself into as well. More a of a squint than a shut:d

I agree with Matt and bloodcrick with this one. Right eye fully open and left eye at a bit of a squint.

Davidmil said it best in another thread somewhere.... it really depend so the lighting. Not all scenerios allow for both eyes open, there are times that I shoot with one eye half closed or floating as I like to call it. I float my off eye.

both eyes are open through out the shot process. I can't make one eye close for any length of time and focus on anything.

I shoot with rt. eye open and left partially open.

I wonder for the guys that shoot with both open how many use a peep sight?
