I started shooting using only one eye opened to look through the sights. I have noticed some people shoot with both eyes opened. While practicing yesterday I tried it. First shot hit dead on. I tried it manny more times and got the same results. I am going to continue to shoot with both eyes opened. I like being able to see exactly what my arrow is doing in flight. My question to everyone else is: How do you shoot? One eye or two and why do you??
I am just curriouse to see how everyone else shoots.

I only use one eye. I have tried two eyes many times before and just can't get the hang of it.

I am still on consistent anchor points and making sure what happens after I hit my release is all good. I'll probably try both eyes open eventually though.
When shooting guns I used to keep both eyes open. However it's been so long since I've done that I don't even know what I would do.

The point of shooting with both eyes open is for a wider field of view, judging distance, and easily picking up your target after shot. Definately both eyes open for me.

nail on the head, although i rarely ever shoot both eyes open (if i do my second eye will be slightly squinted), the best shooters i've known have all trained themselves to shoot both eyes open.

    great question!!!!!!!!

I shoot with one open but that is because I am left eye dominant shooting a right handed bow! When I switch to a left handed bow I will shoot both eyes open

X2 Only I've been shooting (both bow & rifle) long enough that my eyes are cross dominant. I'm sticking with my dominant hand.

I shot with both open until I had to start wearing glasses full time. Now, I shoot with one eye because the target is not in focus looking thru my glasses sideways.

I try shooting with both eyes open and i like the feel. sometimes the view down my sight becomes blurred so i end up closing the other eye and shoot one. not sure why this occurs but doesn't seem to mess with my shot any either way.

I haven't been shooting but about 8 months now and have been shooting with one. When I tried it with both eyes I loved it. I will continue practicing with both. Maybe it will be benificial in the woods more so than on the range. Guess we will see come September.

one eye for me, but that comes from years of rifle shooting. I think both eyes open for archery makes sense. I may have to try that...

If shooting with your non-dominant eye, you will have a hard time shooting both eyes open especially if there isn't a very pronounced dominance over one or the other (each one will try to take over) unless using a blinder. Ideally it's recommended to shoot with your dominant eye and with both open (better sight picture and less strain). With that being said, even shooting with my dominant eye, I keep my non dominant eye about half open. It works for me.
