How do you guys shoot? I shoot with one eye closed right now, but something tells me I should switch to both eyes open.

This is the one thing that I do different fundamentally from firearms.
I shoot one eye opened with a bow, but with all handguns, rifles and even magnified optics its both open.
When teaching any of my firearms courses I just tell my students to do what's natural.

I tried switching to both eyes last year during the season because I had a wider field of view....i was inconsistent and missed a couple deer and decided to go back to one eye. It seems that with both eyes open I was having a harder time finding the correct anchor point (I know it doesn't really make sense). This past off season I practiced with both eyes open and found my consistent anchor point and I've been doing much better, both in the woods and target shooting.

    Who needs their eyes open?:busted:

Lol, one eye open for me as well. I have trouble getting my front ring lined up properly with my peep with both eyes open.

I want to give both eyes a try, sounds like I should probably hold off until the season is over to be safe. Thanks for the replies!

I shot both eyes open, bow, scoped rifle, shotgun etc...... My groups go to crap when I close one eye.

When you guys made the switch to both eyes did you have to adjust your sight or peep at all?

I am right handed but left eye dominant, I find that having both eyes open messes me up so I stick to using my right eye only.

I try to use both eyes but if I notice my non-dominant eye trying to take over I squint it some or at least blink a couple times.

Dude... You are all messed up! Your eye dominance determines if you shoot left or right handed. I bet you would be a better shooter if you would learn to shoot left handed.

I know this. I am right handed, left eye dominant, and shoot left handed.
