Who has it in their state? Do you like it? Just vote. I am trying to get views but just by the poll. I know how heated this topic can get at least on our state sites.

I'll comment on this as well. We (Minnesota) have a one buck rule and they (MnDNR) better keep It that way too!!

As an IL resident you can shoot two bucks per season. From one perspective it is nice as it does help prolong your season and provide additional opportunities for the hunter. From another perspective it hurts our mature buck population as people generally aren't as picky with that first tag, knowing they've got another one in their pocket.

As a whole, I wish IL would adopt at one-buck per year rule. I also wish they would adopt an earn-a-buck type program in certain areas of the state where does are running around like rats. But since outfitting generates a lot of revenue, and a lot of tax revenue for our corrupt polititicians, that will never happen. Nor will the one buck rule.

We shoot 1 but there is a gray area in the REGS that makes me think if I switched zones i could shoot another but eventhough I would like too shoot more I still like the rule cause everybody would shoot more if the rule wasnt there.

We've got a OBR in PA and thank goodness for it. I'm tagged out in PA this year already, but it gives me the rest of the year to scout while hunting for next year. There is no way this state could withstand multiple buck tags.

I wish MI had an OBR. Although only 5% successfully fill the second tag, the problem is the "mulligan tag".

I hunt in both Kansas and Missouri. There is a significant difference between the maturity of the deer most commonly seen. In MO, 1.5 and 2.5 are fairly common but any older is a "trophy". In KS, 1.5 and 2.5 are very common (to the tune of seeing 5 or 6 within 30 yds a hunt is very common). I will pass on most 3.5 and really start considering at 4.5.

The only disadvantage is I am an avid bow hunter but I also like to get out and still hunt with my rifle. There are sighting of 170"+ deer yearly, however, I still shoot smaller deer with my bow when given the chance, ending my hunting season (I still go scouting). I wish I could shoot one with each.

Yea like Bry said, there is NO way our state could support more than one buck/year/hunter. Although sadly, with the amount of poaching in this state, many people don't really follow that rule.

In Wisconsin there are alot of areas that it's 1 buck then in other parts of the state it's earn a buck and in a couple of other spots its kill everything that moves but you have to earn your buck. Every doe you shoot you get a buck tag so it is an endless supply:D

I picked "No, but I would like it". Here in IL we don't have a one buck rule, and I can definitely see it as a negative. Sure, there are still several world class bucks killed every year, but imagine if hunters were only allowed to take one buck a year, giving some of the other bucks a chance to mature. I also wouldn't mind antler restrictions either, which is a whole different topic. My perfect state to live in... Iowa... based on their strict limitations of out of state hunters and the one buck a year regulation.

This question leads to..."why do we hunt?" Why do we set out to hunt? Do we set out to hunt because we want to kill 150 inch deer, or does everyone have a right to decide why they hunt? I don't think we should set up a hunting system based on harvesting monster bucks. It should be based on managing the overall herd.

I like the two buck rule in IL. Then again, I've never actually tagged two antlered bucks in a year. Even when I've smoked a dink buck first, I get really picky on my second deer. Last year I could have shot another 120-130" buck after my 14 pointer... but I passed 'em up. Not sorry about passing them up at all... but I would have been sad if my buck hunting was done after the first buck.

I also hunt 'earn-a-buck' property so it's a challenge just to get two does. (well, for most of us.... Louie has shot five already!) And to be honest, because of the doe first rule... there is a pretty good number of mature bucks on that property. They're hard as heck to kill, but they're out there.

But what if you can have your cake and eat it too? States that implement one buck and several doe tags are in essence doing BOTH of what you view as conflicting ideas. With one buck tag, you aren't being told how to use it...just that you have only one tag to choose with.

KY is one buck only, and I would be angry if it increased to be honest. I think it is a major plus for the herd.

I agree with what is being said. If you are there for the enjoyment of hunting, regardless of size, there are often unlimited doe tags in the states/areas where there is the OBR.

On the different side of things. The ground I hunt in KS has been doeless for the past few years. I have done some research and found that a neighbor is being issued approx. 40 nuisance tags/yr for a small 60 acre farm. He shoots only does. I can honestly say my buck to doe sightings are atleast 5:1.

What has anyone here experienced when your Buck ratio is so high?

There is no "grey" area in the Regs IMO, It clearly states that Ohio has a One Buck Rule no matter where you hunt ing the state. The amount of Does you shoot is the only thing that changes in the different zones.

One buck here (kansas) like stated. I am all for it. This is the first year that if you don't take a deer with your bow you can use your gun to fill your tag. I imagine many more deer will die but I think thats what they are trying to do. If i dont fill my tag with a bow it will go in the trash.

illinois has a 2 buck per year (all seasons combined) and it works out good for us as we manage roughly 1500 acres of hunting land (personal use not an outfitter) and the second tag allows us better management. our friends and some family may not shoot a management buck if they can only shoot one buck knowing there are 150-190 class deer around. so i guess if i were in favor of any new rules it would be an earn a buck system rather than only 1 buck rule. and thats what we are pushing for now, but that all depends on what state you are in like i said we are in illinois and we have a-lot of deer in this state.

The OBR is really helping the state of Indiana, in terms of letting more bucks reach maturity. There are more bucks overall, and they are getting bigger and older.

That being said, a lot of 1.5's are still killed, but I bet way more 1.5's would be killed if they allowed 2 bucks per year. A lot of people are starting to be more selective using their buck tag.

I have to say I like it because our deer are pressured enough. I can't imagine the pressure if we got two buck tags, particularly rifle seasons.
