It's a load of crap, again an over intrusive government infringing on its citizens.

Sadly this is all about the wording of the event.

Had it been labeled a private dinner open to the public, I'd bet the public health board would have no grounds. It's a private dinner but it is open to the public, private before public and I think you'd be ok.

Change that to, it's a public dinner open to everyone. They can regulate it and make sure that health codes are being followed, fine and address it where needed.

It's better to use a little common sense. This isn't an ongoing commercial enterprise here that needs big bother sticking his two sense in. Churches and groups been having fundraiser like this for who knows how long, it worked fine and would still be fine if the government would butt the hell out.
What next does he show up at my family functions with a meat thermometer? Try it when I am in the right mood and he would be pulling it out of is ***.

My father in law had a huge tailgate prior to one of his high school soccer games last year. About 30-40 families helped cook meals and we all ate the food. The kids on his team are from a very diverse group of countries so the food was just plain great!

I can't believe noone stepped in and saved us all that day.......

You didn't read it all. They stayed and made sure all food was removed and dinner guest left.

Exactly...however goodwill "offerings" is the easiest way to make it just one big "potluck" and stay legal. I agree though it is asinine.

Heck, I once belonged to a hunting club in Georgia that BBQ'd a pig or two every year....usually 2 at a time. We'd sell BBQ plates for $7 until the meat was all gone. It was a heck of good time. We'd start the whole hogs the night before over indirect heat. We'd do it in shifts... drinking and partying all night. We'd start serving about 11 AM until it was gone. We made a lot of money and got blitzed in the process.LOL We'd start the cooking fire Friday afternoon, cook all night, serve up all the food to all stopping by on Saturday.... and then I'd crash around 6 or 8 PM and sleep well into Sunday. LOL Of course.... I was a lot younger then... maybe what 30something.

Hearing your story brings back fond memories of when I was in early 20's and lived in a small rural German Catholic community. The guy I worked for always did the sausage and brisket for all the wedding parties. We would cook and drink all day...we always tried to get the Priest drunk but never suceeded.

Sorry, I read it all... I just don't see where they stayed to ensure compliance. Sad state of affairs all around.
