What animals do you routinely see? In a weeks travels to and from work..roughly 20 miles-one way I average 8 deer, 3 turkey, and see the occasional fox, coyote, tons of geese and several ducks. And an estimated 20,000 crows daily...( Someone call me on this one :d )
Deer, geese, coyotes, squirels, rabbits and an occasional tirkey on the side of the road. Coons, opossums, and skunks on the road! :d
I commute 27 miles one way. Depending on the time of year and weather conditions, on a good day I will see between 6 and 12 deer. I see turkey every morning, some days more and some days less. Geese every day with the occasional coyote thrown in for fun. I don't really look for rabbits, squirels, coons, opossums, or skunks (unless I am trying to avoid them), so I don't really know how many I see or if I see any at all. I will promise you there were days this fall when the fields were loaded with deer and I as kicking myself in the arse because I was having to drive to work instead of sitting in a stand!
i go about 15 miles but see deer literaly every day! they come out and eat the grass right next to work. the most at one time was 17 in two separate spots, talk about torture!!!
I make a 150 mile round trip every day. I see deer, hogs, raccoons, 'possums, rabbits, and 'yotes. Then I start getting close to the metroplex and I see a whole 'nother kind of wildlife!
100 yds to the Lodge. I've seen deer, eagles, pileated woodpeckers, sharp shin hawks, loons, mallards, mergansers, red squirrels, red fox, pine martens, snapping turtles, painted turtles, and I've heard wolves... all on my 100 yd commute!:d Life is good
I see about 10-15 deer, a few turkeys and geese. I do see a coyote from time to time, but not every week.
Fitz, I know this is random, but I was looking at the website, and it's very nice! Looks like a great outfit you have going on up there. As for me, 15 miles one way, mostly backroads, so I see deer and turkeys primarily. Lot's of cows. Occasional raccoon, lots of squirrels, and a NEVER once a bear (I'm hoping by saying that, my luck will change:D ).
Thanks Matt! Back in the early '90s when my Dad owned the Resort, he was riding his mtn bike back from one of the cabins and he hit a black bear. Arse-over-tea-kettle! Bear ran into the woods.:d Nothing like a bike vs. bear collision to get your blood flowin'! Only in Ely
Only go about 4 miles one way. See occasional deer, Turkey, Fox, Coyote a ton of Pheasants and all waterfowl and usually have Bald Eagles and Pelicans everyday.
I walk to class 2 1/2 blocks...one way :d Our campus is overrun with squirrels. I see dozens of them every day.
About 4 miles one way here...rarely see anything. I might see a small pack of deer every 20th trip or so. Never any turkey.
Me too! 2 1/2 blocks. We have a rabbit that hangs in our "yard", see a lot of mallards also... Will, don't you ever see some real dogs on your way to class :d
I drive a 50 mile commute everyday....(100 total), I see lots of critters....but here is the question I have. I have been driving this distance 5 days a week for 20 plus years.....I have seen every critter dead and run over on the side of the road...and have bagged about every species there is in SC...with the exception of one....I have never ever seen a dead crow on the side of the road.....You may not have noticed it..but Crows don't get hit by cars....Check it out on your travels. SB
I live in the city and work 5 minutes from home . . . I typically see: 10-12 birds 2-4 pit bulls (unleashed) and a half dozen hood-rats (do they count?)
I see by your avatar you're a Yankees fan? Really? In Ohio? Do you also side with Republicans and tend to relate more with Darth Vadar?
18 miles one way here. In the morning the 1st 3 miles are the most trecherous. I see deer, cats, rabbits & coons(its always dark when I leave) & I've almost run over all of them. Coming home, depending on time of year & whether I come the back way or the highway, I can see upwards of 30 deer and the occasional turkey(back way). Coming home the highway, I see tons of red tail hawks & the occasional deer. At jobs in the past my commutes turned up deer almost daily.
The worst part is they wont even move out of your way. If you kick em you get called in by some hippe art girl or something.
